I was just wondering if this is a common problem. My roomates mother drives a 03 6.0L and after work she went to start it and it acted like the batteries were dead. She goes back in to get help to boost her off and comes back out to see her truck up in flames. They said they were having problems starting it a couple days before this but the batteries checked out okay and then it quit, like nothing ever happened and then this happened. So I was just curious if this is a normal problem of fords of just catching on fire.

Yeah Ford's did have a major recall on their cruise control switch causing the vehicle to go up in flames. I thought they corrected the problem on the newer vehicles but im not sure about that

I heard that the are planning on getting rid of the 6.0 diesel all together just because of the amount of problems it has caused them with consistant failures

The problem with the cruise switch was it had a wire that was always hot, even when turned off, that was attached to the brake master cyclinder ( I think thats where it was). Anyway, some trucks had the seal seperating the brake fluid and the hot wire leak, and it was instant truck flambee.

The recall was for the F150. The 6.0 L isn't gone it's been up graded to A 6.4.
