: Montana / North Dakota
Canadian_Frank 02-22-2004, 11:20 PM Southern neighbors.
I am quickly finding out that what most of you take for granted when it comes to diesel aftermarket parts and add ons is scarce north of your borders in Canada. At least they do not advertise much. I make it to the states a few times a year for fun ( my wife shops and the kids and I play in the pools) in North Dakota and Montana and I would be most interested in finding some good aftermarket dealers when it comes to installing Pro guard 7 filtration system and maybe a new chip system to increase hp and gas milage. I would also be interested in the bypass oil filtration system from AMZOIL but can not find any dealers up here. I am not mechanically incline to start making fittings and brackets from scratch. I can change oil, tighten a few screws and that is about it.
If you have business names and phone numbers please forward and I will deal with them direct.
tradsailor 03-20-2004, 12:57 PM I don't know if you make it to northwest MT, but there is a shop in Kalispell called Northlake Diesel. They do a wide range of work on Cummins and the others. They carry and install some banks products. I'm not sure what else they do. Phone number is 406-755 3880. Best of Luck.

Frank, talk to these guys. They're in your neighborhood and will be able to hook you up with pretty much any thing you need for your Cummins.

Still trying to break that puppy in before summer starts. Will do my annual trip south this summer with the family and will include a visit to those fellows. I have added the link to my favorites.
Thanks for the post.
CTD 600 04-16-2004, 12:16 AM Hey Canadian_Frank, is this what your grille looks like? How much did you pay for it? This is more or less a cold weather grille isn't it?

Canadian_Frank 04-16-2004, 12:44 AM Not quite
Same Company. It is a bunch of small round holes. You can still make out the bar grills looking through it. Same at the bottom. I still want a lot of air coming through but it will prevent the bigger rocks from entering. I am sure the tiny ones will make it through but will not damage the fins. Time will tell. Spent a few hours with a small screw driver fixing the other dints in the rad. I will try and borrow a camera and send a pic in the next few days.

CTD 600 04-16-2004, 12:52 AM http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif I like the looks of this one too. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif I have the same concern about little rocks and bugs getting into the small fins. I seen that all the big rigs have some sort of bug screen that covers the front end but still lets ample air flow thru. That's my next project, to make something like that but have it cover the inside under the hood, instead of the screen exposed on the outside where it wouldn't look that good.

Canadian_Frank 04-16-2004, 12:56 AM Yes but I think this one has long cuts the height of the grill insert. I looked at those but I had the similar original with long vertical cuts and the butterflies and other similar bugs get through. I go North a lot.
Canadian_Frank 04-16-2004, 01:02 AM HO by the way I did try to install it inside the Bar Grill but it is not made for it. Too bad. Like the front of the dodge better but can't affort a new rad.
CTD 600 04-16-2004, 01:09 AM I think the first most exposed fins are the intercooler? Then the radiator, the ac cooler down low and (the auto trans. cooler???) I don't know where those are located.

Do you get around the Grand Forks area? Located south west of Grand Forks about 30 miles. In Northwood North Dakota. Mike's Custom Truck. He does it all and is a diesel mechanic. works on all brands of trucks. He sells a lot of popular aftermarket parts. People drive long distances to have him do his magic. He knows Dodge and Cummins. His personal truck is a Dodge. Is by far the best I've seen.If you need his number I can get it for you. I don't have it off right hand.
We have truck meets there couple times a year. Kinda fun!
He's got a Dyno Jet chasis dyno

Had to pull the old Rand McNally Road Atlas to make sure. Yes I have driven by many times to visit my father in Montreal. I do go to Minot a lot, every year just before school starts. My wife shops, I have nothing to do and the kids play in the pool. Not that much of a Drive from there. I have added the details to my list of places to check out.
Thanks.
Please let me know when and where the truck Meet is. Not sure I can make it but you never know. Could be interesting.
I am as green as they come when it comes to Performance parts mechanics. So I will research the Dyno Chassis thing. So I won't sound so lost next time.

I Know it is a bit late but I finally got a hold of one of those digital cameras.
CTD 600 05-12-2004, 12:38 AM Very nice Frank, I just ordered this...

It won't help with the pebbles or critters getting themselfs into the grille but it is definately a bit bolder than the OEM billet grille.

Is that factory or from an other supplier? Looks similar the the one under my grills.. The Laramie grill?
CTD 600 05-12-2004, 12:59 AM It's not stock, it's a tubular grille from Putco. The stock grilles on the laramie's are thin medal. This grille is actual tubed aluminum, gives a bolder look to trucks. I think they look really nice on the Fords, We'll have to see if it looks good or not on the Dodge.
