The end results of the GP on the Mag Hytec .....

Thanks DIPPER for putting it together and getting the unbeatable price ... Also to Mike L for his major part also in getting it done, much appreciated ....

Thanks to both of you guys and all who participated .....

The Cover is top notch on quality, very rugged in build, the added capacity in fluid will go along way in preserving a long life in the Eaton differential .... Along with superior looks, makes this a welcome into my family of long list of mods ....

My only dislike was the E-brake factory retaining bracket has to be modified to hold E-brake cable .... I haven't yet altered mine, I'm going to go a different route .....Some have chosen to zip tie to the steel rigid brake line for support but I don't feel comfortable doing this .... This cable is heavy by nature and along with applying the E-brake causes shift and movement which could cause undo stress on the fixed steel line over time ... For now I have put a piece of split rubber fuel line on the steel portion of E-brake shroud to protect the Mag -Hytec from damage and the E-brake cable itself ...

Some photos .....

Nice looking cover, I saw the pics of Dyno day that PC posted and noticed it then on at least 1 truck if not more. How much added capacity does it give you? 1 or 2 quarts? It sounds like I will have to make a bracket for the e-brake cable, no biggie I do have tools to make up something that will work. Is this a vendor on this site? If not do you have the link to it? It would be really appreciated, as I believe I will be purchasing one in the near future, just can't do it right now with the other goodies going on the new truck I am starting to run short on$$$$.

Thanks in advance, Fran

The rear end goes from 4 qts to 8 qts on my truck and it runs much cooler. This is a must have option in my opinion. It also looks great.

On an added note to what Al has wrote. If you have an aftermarket trailer hitch, The clearance is extremely tight with the spare tire Other than that it is a pretty bad azz cover.

I bet the rear end temps are half of what they used to be, touch it after going 90 on the highway, its barely warm. And the magnet on it really catches the chunks pretty good.

Im going to have a bracket made up to hold the ebrake cable, Im not too keen on it just hanging their.

Thanks to all for the replies.

Al, I can see now that I'll have to scrape up some $$ to pick it up sooner than I thought. I didn't think it would hold an extra 4 quarts, that will be ideal for towing, and with the sounds of that magnet it should help in collecting any metal deposits. The looks of this unit is awesome, it helps bring out the rear end!

Bill, I see you said it's a tight fit with the hitch and spare. I am sure I will get it wedged in there!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif I sure like the idea of it running that much cooler as I am planning on a cross-country trip the summer with a camper, and I'll be trying to make some decent time.

Mac, I will be getting a hold of xtremediesel.com to make the purchase, I appreciate the response.

Thanks again to all. Fran

I have had my rear covered for more then 25,000 miles and never did do anything with the E-Brake. Everything seems to work fine. I ment to do the mod for it, but forgot until I read your comments.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

I just double wraped my cable with rubber hose and tie wrapped it to keep it on and it has been bouncing along there for 40 thousand miles with no problems. Edited by: Blue Max

I almost had one installed when I did my re-gearing but held off because of the $$. I liked the dip stick and oh yea the temp sensor provision too.

Now I see why they put a drain plug on it even though the GM version of the AAM 11.5 axles already has one...

The Dodge version of the same axle doesn't have a drain. I was just informed by Mag Hytek that it will bolt right up.

Awsome.. gotta drain. Mag also said if i needed a new o-ring just give them a call. Great company, great product.
