hi I am new to the website. i just bought a 91 chev 4x4 with a 6.2.

the engine was rebuilt a year ago ,new injection pump, and the list goes on of new parts....

but my problem is when the truck runs for a few mins and quiets down i can hear noise in the engine which almost sounds like a bad lifter but i did some checking into it and i dont think that is what it is.

it gets quite loud is it possible that it is harmonic balancer or flywheel or something? I have never owned a 6.2 b4 but what are some of the common engine problems. someone told me that it also could be a wristpin or piston? any suggestions on this problem would be much appreciated thanx.

You might check the fan belt housing and make sure all the bolts are completely tightened down, i had one go out on me just a while ago, the noise was very loud, couldn't quite tell what it was.

yah i dont think this noise is anything external sounds like a loud tick tick tick...metallic sound and is even with rpm. so something must be banging around... i prob have to open it up..http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

dont worry guys i found my noise. #7 piston screwed bad. collapsed .026 thousands... so you can imagine what that sounded like..... thats like boring the engine out and not using oversize piston...the engine had no miles on it barely at all, i think the piston was fit too tight on rebuild and just pounded out....
