I recently purchased a set of 8 new glow plugs from INDUSA Distributing for $56.95 plus shipping. They have a dual coil design and come with a 2 year free replacement guarantee. Are the OEM plug's for GM 6.2's single coil...??? Has anybody on this forum ever used them on their truck before...???

These glow plugs are probably like the fast heats that some others sell, the a/c 60gs are also dual coil I believe, the biggest thing is that they are self limiting, so they won't over heat and burn up.

These are WAP glow plugs and you should have no problems with them. I may consider them but their web site was having issues with the pics and info.

I have the WAP fast heats from SSDiesel, and they work great. Truck cranks with a bump of the starter in 30* weather.

Now I'm suffering from info o-load  Does one use 60g's, or Accurate diesels "better than 60g's" http://www.accuratediesel.com/shop/7.html. or My '86 6.2 is real hard starting. The controller is new, and it definetly lites up something as the lights dim as it cycles after it starts. It won't start at all even 40* unless the lamp goes off. But it's only getting colder.http://www.ssdieselsupply.com/product_8_Chevy_GMC_6.5_Turbo_Diesel_Glow_Plugs.ht ml.. -:t http://indusadist.com/index_files/page0001.htm SSDiesel has a simple but effective comp photo...

I will only use the 60G's since I have never heard of their tips mushrooming. They do require a lower glow time to warm up, but that is not a problem since I have a manual switch for them. I generally use about 20 seconds in cold weather and more if outside in freezing weather.

The manual switch is a great idea with 60g's, and I have also noticed that new glow plugs work substatially better than old ones, even if the old ones are all still working. Just swapped out some 2 year old glow plugs on my daughters 86 6.2 and replaced with new 60g's and it starts 100% better.

D.C.: Have you disected one of the old 60G's to see what they look like? My 60G's are quite old, but they are still good with the main reason that they haven't experienced that many starts. Most (99%) of our 1986 Chev C30 mileage occurs during our travel on long trips. My second brake job on the truck will probably be around 300K if I don't get a wheel cylinder leak before and if we still have the truck. I did replace the rear axle seals at 216K.
