I tried to install a white gauge cluster overlay tonight and it didn't go well at all. Pulled off the old needles and got the new overlay on but can't get all the gauges to work now and it makes a funny noise when you first start and the gauges are trying to move. I can get most to work, but when I push them down to keep them in place they freeze. And my volt meter will not work at all., no matter what I do. :duh: :duh: :duh: :banghead: :iamlost:
Any ideas? Or do I just have to order a whole new cluster?

With the key off turn them all, all the way counter-clockwise.

All the way to where they should be resting or keep turning until they stop?

I think they will stop just below zero. They do on an 04 cluster. Not sure about earlier years.

I think the pointer / cluster face is what limits travel. The motors themselves on these clusters will probably spin through 360 degrees.
Did you have power to the cluster when you put the pointers back on? Are you sure all of the needles are in the correct position? If the volt gauge spindle was in the wrong position when you put the needle back on, it physically may not be able to turn to the correct position now.

the last one I did, the overlay was a little thick, I had to raise the needles on the shafts a little bit, pushing them down to far caused them to stick on the overlay.
