This is day 38 for me and counting. My TPW is next week (2/23). I've found that this is a horrible place to hang out while I wait because it makes me that more anxious for it to arrive. I suggest you find a hobby such as thumb twiddling to pass the time. Otherwise you'll go nuts like me.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Maynard,

I have the same TPW (2/23), ordered about 1/11. At least when I hang out here I get educated. Yours being shipped by truck?

I got a call this past week from the dealer, teased me and said the truck was here, I stopped by before work and saw some new Sierras but not my truck. Talked to the dealer latter that day and after a short conversation, said he was sorry, he was mistaken, keep waiting....

Gottaway,

I'm not sure, but assume that it will be shipped by truck through Canada. Mine was ordered on 1/14. I see you are from NY. What area?

Ordered on 12/31/03, TPW of 02/09/04, Built and on the train on 02/12/04, I just might have to go and "HIJACK" that train! Yes the wait will drive you http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wacko.gif , but this forum is a great stress relief and you get to learn where you need to spend your next dollar on you new truck!!!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif My dealer told me it would be here no latter than 30 days from the build date. But who's counting, ME!!!!!!!

Impatiently waiting, impatiently waiting, impatiently waiting, impatiently waiting, impatiently waiting, impatiently waiting, impatiently waiting...................... The only good thing is our company had just recieved a new 04 GMC LLY D/A LONG BOX, 3 weeks ago and I have had it for the past two weeks while being on call. 1074 miles as of last night and I put all but 174 miles of them on the truck.

I think this has been the only saving grace for me. Wish you the best of luck. Fran

Targeted Production Week

That's the week they'll try to get it put together. It's called targeted because it can change due to supplier problems or such.

It's normally available about two weeks into the order process, and depending on how cooperative your dealer is, you'll either have to bug him or he'll volunteer information on it's progress once he know's you're interested.

I posted the information on tracking the build process here:

http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5257&PN=1

Howard has a post on tracking the shipping here:

Hope you've got something to take your mind off the process....Valium, beer, etc....

KTDuramax-
I hope you have better luck than me with the 0%. Even though it is still listed on GM's website and various other places, and though it says March 31, my dealer called yesterday and told me its gone. GM changed the rebates and incentives, at least my region, and now it's 1.9%. Real kick in the a$$! I'm still fighting though and will be contacting my states Attorny General if it takes much longer. The GMbuypower website doesn't even have a disclaimer about it being subject to change. Let me know how you make out.

Hi Maynard9089,

I'm waiting for mine to be delivered later this month as well. That info. you stated has me nervous now. Did you get that JUST from your dealer alone? I haven't seen any changes in the incentive program thru the end of March. I will check with my dealer tomorrow to find out.

I ordered on 1/13/04. I picked it up this evening 3/3/04. So that's 10 days shy of 2 months.

Howard helped me w/ getting my truck. He also helped w/ a GM in the Driveway certificate.

While calculating the price of my new truck, my salesman said he's got good and bad news. The bad news was that the pricing changed by going up $130 or so. The good new was an additional $750 rebate. This rebate was in addition to the $1000 Heavy Duty Power package discount, and the $2500 rebate.

With the supplier discount cert from howard, all of the rebates, and taxes/licence/doc fees, the truck was just over $40k out the door. BTW, this is a 4x4 2500HD D/A, Dual alternators, skid plate, winter covers, trailer wiring, etc.

The last 2 trucks I had were 30 day wonders, from date of order to delivery.

Dealer said he got a 1500 in 20 some days.

I'll order my LLY in a couple of weeks.

I get about 4 days delivery since we are right on the main rail line.

It's great they moved your TPW up, that doesn't often happen, but I don't see how you'll get it late this month if it's not going to be built until next month?

Shipping is normally about 7 to 10 days once it's shipped. But getting it out of the factory and onto a railcar or OTR transport could take some time. Mine shipped the day after it was built, but took 12 days to get to my dealer.

I know that the lure of 0% sounds too good to pass up........however a consideration of finance rates vs. rebates goes beyond simple interest being paid.

The cost of new vehicles is such that most are upside down the first 2 years or more depending on the length of term, downpayment, etc.

Most times the best deal is the 0%, but that's not always the case.

If you trade in often the rebate might be or is the better way to go......for one it lowers the upfront costs so the vehicle is actually worth more to you at trade in because the buyout is less........also if the vehicle is not protected by gap coverage this lessens the hit should it be totaled in the first year....although many insurers include this or it is offered at the time of sale from the finance company or bank.

The best advice is to look at what can you afford......then look at interest paid vs. rebate, in many instances the rebates are close to the interest saved on a 0% loan.......

The advantage of buying with a good rebate is you can always pay it off early and save the uncharged interest....once you forgo a rebate and take the 0% then the chance of additional savings is gone.

I know I hate to pay interest, but the bottom line is the bottom line.........look at the total cost before making a decision, you may be surprised at how much better you can do..............paying a little interest

Well my finance problem has was taken care of this afternoon by GM. Appears that the squeeky wheel does get the grease. I agree with Tony 100% but with my employee pricing and a few other rebates that I have acrued it would be better for me at zero finance.

Worked out better for me to take all the rebates and get outside financing as well, sometimes it takes some head scratching with caculator in hand to figure out which really is best.

With regard to it falling off the train.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Don't even think that way, because it's bad enough waiting this last few days, but when it comes off the truck with yellow paint from the railcar on it, wellll.......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif

I would absolutely love to take any rebate at this point. My original TPW was March 8 and has been moved to April 5, according to my dealer.
I originally planned on the 0%, then I learned that taking the rebate in my case would be better. Now I learn that I will miss the March 31 cutoff. Unless I can get a VIN before my (new) TPW of 4/5 (fat chance!), it seems I am out of luck.
I am Very Unhappy!

On edit now March 29:
Now that I have had time to think more rationally, I am hopeful that the same or similar incentives will continue in April. Why not? Chevrolet still wants to sell trucks.

Just released from GM today is the news that the incentives for a Silverado HD are either:
$1,000 bonus cash AND 0% financing for 60 months.
OR
$3,500 cash back.

I am very HAPPY now!

I heard from my dealer on Tuesday April 6. I have a V.I.N.! The big huge grin on my face started slowly to develop. It took all of 5 seconds. Now I just have to wait out this last agonizing phase of having my new truck shipped from Michigan to my dealer for the final unveiling to me.
Am I some kind of nut or what? I find myself just staring at those numbers that represent my V.I.N.
Yah, I know, I probably sound like a dork. But I was really getting worried that I might not be able to use my new truck for much of the 2004 camping season pulling my trailer. I know it's real now.

3500LLY,
No, as of today (Monday April 26) I have not seen my truck yet. However, my source -- known as "a little bird" that is often referred to when people contact Howard -- has indicated that the railroad car that delivered my truck has unloaded at the local rail yard. So, my truck is probably going to be delivered to the dealer via semi-truck in a few days.
Concerning your question about how long it took to ship, it was shipped via rail on April 15. I suspect that the delay from the time being built on or around April 6 to April 15 may have something to do with the injector issue with a specific batch of vehicles. As I understand it, certain trucks were inspected to see if their injectors were bad before shipping.

I just saw my truck at the dealer this afternoon! My salesman sent me an email saying they had just unloaded it as I had just finished my previous post. I just had to go pay it a visit right away. I talked to the service manager who has been a delight to work with for the last 4 years. He assures me he will make sure the differential fluid levels are correct.
I pick up the truck after their inspection and installation of the dealer installed options, tomorrow or the next day!

I can hardly wait.
