: 1000Gallon Fuel Tank
benz_020 12-01-2005, 04:45 PM just got my 1K tank this morning and alredy had it filled!
i was leaving with an empty tank hoping i had enough to make it to town to fill-up,
and as i was putting it in gear a tanker pulled in my driveway :cool2:
he was not supposed to come till tomorrow. fine with me though.
here are pics of it
i know a few people were asking around if anyone has done it.......
i have...now
they had 500g 1000g and 5000g tanks
i didnt want the huge 5000 i didnt really need that though
you dont save much,
so i got the 1K
$177.56 tank delivery
free as long as i keep using it.
and fuel was $1.9188 per gallon
but after the additive ws included t okeep it from gelling
and taxes
it went up to
$2.3128 per gallon
still cheaper than the lowest stations around here
at $2.43 and most are in the low 50's
while i am barely in the 30's ):h
total bill for today was $2609.63
....that will last a little over a week in the summer. 2-3 right now :(

Idle_Chatter 12-01-2005, 04:51 PM Heck! just toss her up in the bed and take it with you!:)
But seriously, does that sticker under the hoses in the third picture say: "on road fuel - highway use only?"
jholly 12-01-2005, 04:51 PM 2-3 weeks? OMG, how many miles you drive in a week? The bummer would be if the fuel prices drop below what you paid before the tank is empty.

ya, but then i goto the station, and save the tank for later.
prices are at the lowest they have been for months i think maybe the lowest this year, and everything will lgo up as more heating oil is used when the temp goes down and the travel season gets going more.
miles i drive in a week?
in the winter not much except for trips work and class.
but it im not the only one using it though
my father will use it for his pickup and work truck too.
"on road fuel - highway use only"
i guess it dose......
duramaxdavid 12-01-2005, 05:51 PM Big tank cooll
jholly 12-01-2005, 06:04 PM Oh, okay several users, makes sense. I did pick up on the tax included bit.

It's nice when prices go up though, & you're still driving on the old lower prices. I always figured it averages out in the long run.
benz_020, that's a nice looking set-up. What's the micron rating & the brand name of the filter on the pump? Cim-Tek?
You're going to love knowing you have fresh, clean fuel anytime you need it.
.
AZ Vic 12-02-2005, 02:52 AM So where do you go to get the skinny on one of these??
I know I could get my buddy to go in with me on one....

well if you are in the lower half of the LP of mchigan i can tell you where i get it from, other wise
just look around
at a trucking company
gravel hauling company
cement plant
garbage company
they usually have the larger tanks, and the ph:# for the company should be on the tank, or you can go in and ask
i dotn know if they would be in the phone books but its worth a try.
we have had them for years at our businesses, but never at my house till now.

Jim
what would be worse is if it jumps 30 or 40 cents the day before i have to have it refilled.
:(
then i would have to pay more no matter what
i would still be getting it cheaper though
blnagel 12-02-2005, 05:57 AM Nice looking set-up. Nice to fuel up at your convenience. Paying they bill for fillup is a :nutkick:
Prostar8.20 12-02-2005, 08:11 AM I just put in a 3000 gal. tank at my business and had to do a SPCC plan, are you required? I was told it's a felony if you don't and get bagged. This is basically a spilled prevention plan, it's a pain in the ass but I spent the money and had it done....$3500 for a bunch of paper.

nope
didnt have to do a thing.
even with the larger ones we didnt have to.
the one in the pics is inside a metal "tub"
there is actually a normal cylinder tank in it.
the others we had that were just the cylinders by themselves ,we didnt do anything to.
DURYMCGEE 12-04-2005, 07:31 PM I've got a similar setup, mine is only a 500 gal. overhead tank, that will last me about 6 months. Recently because of skyrocketing fuel prices I've had some latenight guests coming and filling up. I thought I would be safe with a large lock on the tank, but they just used a set of bolt cutters. They just filled up their pickup cause I only lost 20 gallons (they forgot to reset the pump). So I put a bigger lock on the tank, 2 weeks later the same thing happened. So for the next week I backed my truck into my barn every night, and sat there patiently with a shotgun loaded with rocksalt. Finally after 5 days the dumba$$ game pulling up in his 94 GM 6.5TD So I called the police, and silently got out of my truck and crept up on him(the tank is on the end of my barn) I flipped the barn lights on and to his suprise he was looking down the barrel of the 12 gauge, when the cops arrived they arrested him and had his truck towed, but I could'nt get any money for the fuel I lost cause there was no way to prove it was him.
benz_020 12-04-2005, 09:11 PM ive thought about that
i wouldnt mind that happenin just so i could have a little fun with them :)
but really im just going to build a "shed" around it
and lock it up
how could you not hear a 6.5 pulling up?
ive got a 94 6.5
its loud as hell
and sound great!
DURYMCGEE 12-05-2005, 12:00 AM My barn is across the street from my house, I live in a really wooded area so I cannot see it from my house, let alone hear it.
