I am going to be ready for rubber soon. Can anyone tell me the largest tire that will work (not rub, ect) with the stock height and stock alumn wheels? Thanks.

with out doing nothing a 265 , if you twist the torsion bars a few turns 285 will fit, after that start cutting and zip tieing fo anything bigger

With a 6.5" wide rim 265 are safety max. Quite a few have run 285's but the rim at 6.5 starts squeezing the tire.

From a tire standpoint, anything over a 265/75R16 is not recommended on a 6.5 wheel. The reason is because you are pulling the beads in to close and you are changing the flex point of the tire in the sidewall. When you do that, you could diminish the life of the casing. You might get away with it, but you might not. Depending on how heavy of loads you carryl.

Speaking of stock wheels. Does anybody know what the back-spacing is on the stock wheels and what back-spacing is needed to go 16x8's with 265's? Already tired of the stock rubber and wheels....

At about 25K miles, mine still has the factory (I think) General 245's. They aren't totally bald, but traction is terrible in rain and snow. If I replace them with 265's, will it effect the computer? What about fuel mileage? Any downsides?

My stock 05" has had the torsion bars tweeked to even out the truck and the 285's I run now have plenty of room. Thinking of going to an 8 inch aftermarket rim and 295 75 16's BF TA's. Anyone tried this? I have seen these before and I know that you have to trim the plastic up front but what di you need to use the zip ties for?

I am running 295/75R16 Nitto's on stock rims with 30,000 miles, so far no problems.

IIRC, stock rims are 5" backspacing.
16x8's need to be 4.5", or deeper if you can find 4.75 or 5 (good luck).
16x8 at 4.5" will need just enough TR crank to level the truck (my fender lips are all at 41", no mods to rear), and some trimming of the inner wheelwell liner behind the washer fluid reservoir. I still get some rubbing on the rear of the driver's side on tight turns to the left.
This is with 285/75-16's

I just put a set of these on mine: http://www.toyoeditor.com/images/highrez_tires/highreztires_rgb/opencountryat_hi.jpg

E load rated.. and fit the stock rim no prob..and don't rub anywhere.

Another good one would be the BFGoodrich in the same size.. they make an E loaded version in the TKO All Terrain.. on a month backorder right now.

Good luck! Take care
