: 2006 LBZ Banks Power addons
donron 11-29-2005, 10:39 AM Hi,
I'm looking at Banks Power addons for my 2006 LBZ. Has anyone put Banks Power Equipment on their Duramax Diesel? If I do, they (Banks Power) state that you will get more power and gas mileage. If you had this EQ. added, have you seen these improvement?
Thanks
DMAX KING 11-29-2005, 11:00 AM I have an 02 with the Banks Six Gun and it is alright but not near the power that i want. The safety features suckand cut power all the time.
ratlover 11-29-2005, 11:41 AM Hi :welcome:
Take a few minutes to read the LB7 forums and do a search on banks. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/search.php?searchid=427172 the what stacks with the banks is an entertaining read IIRC. You will see that most people view them this way......Alright products, but marketing is so full of BS and 1/2 truths that it pisses off most people that know better Now for your specific question I dont think you will get much response from people that run it on the new LBZ becasue.....well.....the LBZ is so new.
Chevyduty84 11-29-2005, 01:10 PM Unfortunately Still nothing out for the LBZ except the duramaximizer. bully dog and edge are close.

Banks has nothing for the LBZ yet. On my LB7, I gained about 1.5mpg driving it the same as before the added power. I like the Banks better than the Hypertech PPIII and Bullydog Powerpup I had before it, mostly because you can adjust it on the fly, but I didn't have any problems with those two mentioned programmers, either.
azcrf450 11-30-2005, 12:05 AM If Gale Banks is soo smart and has had soo much experience in the performance diesel field, how come these newer companies like ppe and edge are on the cutting edge of performance while leaving Banks behind?

I think Banks makes their products to use on stock configurations, and not modified. Their Six-Gun w/Speedloader is pushing the limits of the Allison now on it's two highest settings. Remember, 99% of the people that buy a Duramax/Cummins/Powerstroke aren't even thinking about diving into their transmissions. Trust me, if Banks wanted to produce an all out performance module for racing only, they could do it easier than any company out there.
azcrf450 11-30-2005, 11:18 AM The thing is though banks is into diesel racing, they have the sidewinder so I dont understand why they wouldnt make all out performance tunes for street trucks.

I would ASSume it has alot to do with liability.
Gale Banks produces products for the masses (i.e. uneducated). He allows you to install his products, get more power, and not hurt the truck. He probably makes 5 times more money doing that than the companies pushing the HP/Torque envelope because the average Joe can buy Banks components, but the guys wanting to run a big program need to shell out money for trans upgrades, fuel system upgrades, bigger turbo's, multiple turbos, engine/head modes, etc. etc.
There is a big market out there, and GB has targeted the largest portion.....(for better or worse). Yes some of their claims are hyped, but those that don't know better don't need to know that, and those that know better, know what other options are out there and what they involve and what the end result will be (compared to GB products).
Just my .02
JhnZ71 12-01-2005, 01:33 AM There are Three levels of Diesel performance in my opinion...
Stock - maybe an exuaust or intake, but no computer changes
Practical - Banks Six Gun, Edge Juice(Not HJ),Most plug in proframmers up to 150 hp (Chips that a stock tranny can handle)
Absolutely Rediculuous - Chips that are at least 200+ hp over stock, 3-9 Thousand Tranny rebuild necessary. Twin Turbos, Nitrous, Propane, etc.
The Banks is designed to work with a stock transmission. I personally really like my six gun, i would like more performance but simply cannot afford a new trans or more seroius mods. In my opinion Leadfoot is exactly correct.
azcrf450 12-01-2005, 02:22 AM The banks six gun will eventually, like any power adders, do in a stock transmission, i agree not as quickly as the bigger programs, but when you put that much more torque through a stock tranny it will go-:t

Ya know, John.....you said it perfectly right there.
