My dealer wants to charge me to change the tire size on the computer.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif I just bought the truck from them on Tue. Does anybody know another way to change the tire size on the computer?

How much are they going to charge??? I'd get in touch w/your salesman or the salesmanager & start busting chops!!!

BTW, what on the computer did they say they'd change?? From what I've heard, it's only the ABS brakes, not the speedo . . . Edited by: T.P.N.

They want to charge $40. Hmmm, I'm not sure on what computer, but I was under the impression that it would compensate everything for that tire size change.

You might want to ask . . . .

They should be embarrased to ask you for $40 after you just bought the truck!!!

I didn't think that GM allowed the dealer to change ANYTHING on a DMAX PCM/ECM dealing with tire size? Only way was through a programmer?

Also...my Dmax was delivered from the dealer with 265/75's and at 23K miles my only issue is the speedo and odometer reading under by 5%. ABS, trans, etc, all work just fine. If you can live with the speedo being off don't worry about it, only 3MPH slow at 75 according to GPS.

Keep the 40 bucks thats ten percent of the cost of a Predator.

Seriously. GM will only calibrate tire size differences for ABS computer stuff, It will not change your speedo, odo, etc.

If its an LLY, just wait. When I went to 265's without a programmer, and then changed presets when I had a programmer, I noticed no difference in anything shifting mileage etc.

I was thinking the same thing about the 40 bucks more twords a programmer. I guess on the bright side at least my milage will be a little less than it really is-more warranty!!!!

I don't have one, but I understand it increases HP and TQ by changing the programming in your computer. You can also tell the computer what size tire you have so the speedo and ABS work correctly. It might do some other things too. Maybe someone who has one will chime in. Edited by: Mr. Mister

I was thinking about getting a Predator or other programmer also until I read several of the horror stories about GM voiding, or attempting to void, warranties when they discovered consumer reprogramming. You may want to read some of the horror stories before you make your decision to buy a programmer...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif
