: Diesel Fuel Scrubber
Roegs 02-18-2004, 10:29 PM I think our clean fuel problems have just been solved. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
Check out the fuel scrubber below.

NWDmax 02-18-2004, 11:01 PM No doubt some of the big stuff will settle to the bottom but there is no way it'll get the little 2 mic - particles we are after.
Another carpet bagger elixir imho.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clown.gif
problemchild 02-19-2004, 01:11 AM I see NO way to open it and clean or replace its filtering media.
This reminds me of the carb swirling mpg increasing doo-hicky.
This has to be garbage.
SmokeyMax 02-19-2004, 07:49 AM This is like the magnet fuel atomization B.S. There is a reason why your fuel is dirty. The particles are so small that they are to light to settle. This plate/chamber device is not large enough to provide settling time due to the constant flow of fuel. If it worked, you would see the oil companies using it to purify oil sands in canada.

timgep 02-20-2004, 03:59 PM This IS a tough crowd. I think you may have
thrown the baby out with the bathwater on this one,
IMHO.
Take a look at their brochure again. The Boulder
Scrubber is an additional filter that is installed
between the fuel tank and the primary fuel filter.
I personally know the owner of Boulder Engineering,
and I assure you that he is the real deal.
If their Diesel Fuel Scrubber is a sham, why does
Boulder Engineering:
1. Have a real street address on their website?
2. Have a real phone number on their website?
3. Have their website hosted in the U.S. with
a real WHOIS listing?
4. Do no Spam advertising?
5. Have other real products for sale
(Quick Lube Equipment, Swim Platforms)?
I think you need to take another look.
These views are my own and do not intend to represent
Boulder Engineering in any way.

Oldman 02-20-2004, 04:58 PM I see NO way to open it and clean or replace its filtering media. ....This has to be garbage.
Take a look at the picture. I see an opening on the bottom and one on the top. Open both, pour some diesel in the top and the junk washes out the bottom. Don't know if it works this way nut it sure looks like it. It doen't have to be garbage!

Tim, I think you may have misunderstood. They aren't saying the company isn't real, just they don't believe the claims for the scrubber. I'd like to see independent testing results.

WOW!! Didn't even buy one and check for pinholes in it first!
I'm VERY impressed! Must be great to have ESPN. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif
I haven't looked at this unit either, but I do recall the US Navy resorts to oil scrubbing when dealing with contaminated lube oil and hydraulic systems.
DavesDmax 02-20-2004, 06:36 PM socal,
are you ex-subfleet?
Idle_Chatter 02-21-2004, 08:17 AM I don't know about SoCal, Dave, but I am - Waaay ex - 1970 to 1976.
DavesDmax 02-21-2004, 09:09 AM I am not so way ex, 78-88. Last 4 teaching at prototype.
Tom, I'll PM you, I've hijacked this thread enough.
Back on topic, yes the Navy does use oil purification by velocity separation. It works very well by the way.
Did a few cleanings on those units back in the day...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif
Oldman 02-21-2004, 07:56 PM One more hi-jack here. Dave and Tom, I was USN from 68 to 96. I wasn't in subs, but I did keep an eye on you guys. Last 20 years was in SOSUS.
DavesDmax 02-21-2004, 10:56 PM Sorry,
jc, Tom and anyone else goto Off Topic forum. I started a thread there.
Back on topic, in theory, the velocity changing fuel filter should work. However, I don't think our Duramax's can generate the flow rates necessary to make it very efficient.
I think a good ole' filter will work far better.
