I have been poking around the internet looking for resources that would help me put a diesel in my jeep. Currently I have an inline 4 and an AX-5 tranny. They both are ok but the allure of a diesel is just to much. So I found this forum and fighure I would introduce my self. I am nate and live in Ann Arbor michigan. I like jeeps and everything that I have found is pointing me towards a 3.9L cummins and an NV4500 tranny hooked up to a Atlas II transfercase. For those who know about cummins I am very intrested in what they are like. Does the 5.9 have the same bellhousing pattern as the 3.9. What about engine mounts and computers. Doing research has been a pain in the ass, I can find anything about a chevy 350 or a hemi swap, but no diesel, so now I ask the folds at Diesel place.

Good luck with your project. The Turbo Diesel Register does have a lot of info in the "conversion" forum. Avant Diesel Salvage in Georgia has all the parts you need, and possibly the 4BT as well. They have kits that will also let you run a GM automatic transmission behind the 4BT. I'm building a Suzuki Samurai right now with a new Cummins B3.3 4 cylinder diesel. The 3.9 was too long for me to use. The 3.3 is a lot smaller, and over 200 pounds lighter. I'm also going with a GM 4 speed auto..
