: Taking out glove box to get at VSSB?

Has anybody done this? I'm trying to get back at my Vehicle Speed Sensor Buffer (VSSB) to adjust it. My main question is: How does the glove box come out? It kinda looks like to me that you remove the strap and 2 screws, and then "squeeze" the sides of the box in to remove. :help2:

I'm tired of the speedo being off, and now want to do something about it. :grd: Well actually it is the wife since she is the main driver. ;)

Thanks, SuperBurban

Somewhat easy to do if you have some soldering skills. You might want to find another from a junkyard truck (same as the gas engine trucks until 95). Check out this thread for more information then you need:

What lift are you running BTW? Gears? Did your mileage suffer at all with the lift? Have any more pictures?

Lift is Pro Comp. Gears 3:73. Not sure on the mileage. We bought the Burb used, and it had 245's or maybe it was 265's on it. I'm not going out in the barn to look at the tires. The best I saw with those tires was 17MPG. The best I have seen with the 35's has been 14. That measurement was taken WITHOUT speedo correction. I think I a few older pics.

Have you gotten the glove box out? If not, open it up and look on the left side, you'll see a black, rubbery strap. Unhook that, now the box will open farther. Squeeze the two sides of the box inwards, to allow it to open even further. Now, with the box open (and stuff falling out!) you can pull it off of its' hinges. Should take all of about 30 seconds.

Pro Comp 6" lift in my ole 95, good kit, these trucks already ride real smooth and with the lift kit they ride better than when they were new!

Dennis,
No I have not taken it out yet, but I appreciate the info. :ro)

CanadianRigger,

The main complaint I had with the Pro Comp lift when installing it was for the money you are paying, you would have thought they would give you metric nuts and bolts instead of standard thread. :(

Chevydiesel,

Thanks. :exactly:

I didn't do the install, had a shop do it so i really didn't know that about the bolts. Just need to make sure to always carry both metric & standard i guess...lol
