Dont take it to the Auto zone on Owen road, all you will get is a blank stare.
Most of the people that I know having this problem have replaced the switch and fixed it, I think if you shop around you can get one for less than $50, I dont know how Jay chevy is on parts but Canavers is high.
Try cycling the truck off and on a few times and see if it clears. My Trailblazer does that occasionally and it usually corrects itself by the next time you drive it.

Apparently when the switch faults it kicks a fault in the system and turns on the light.
Our Trailblazer always clears on the next start, of course thats why the dealer hasnt been able to fix it. Fortunately it only happens a few times a year. I had the same problem on my 03 Avalanche and all they ever did was reflash it, never did solve it completely.
I liked the "auto" 4WD for a while but I dont use it anymore and it doesnt seem very reliable to me.
I just leave it in 4HI when the roads are bad. They had already salted this AM when I came home from work, you would think we got a foot of snow as much salt as they used.
if you ever see a blue diesel suburban over by the home depot on silver parkway wave ill blow some black smoke your way thanks for your replys
