: "low coolant level"
DURAtotheMAX 11-26-2005, 07:25 AM OK NOW IM MAD!!! Excuse me while I "LET OFF SOME STEAM" (ha ha get the joke?:) ) . Truck has been at the dealer for a week because the fuel pressure regulator and ECM were bad. Now I start the truck up and LOW COOLANT LEVEL comes up in the oh-so-helpful DIC. I pop the hood and sure enough theres barely any left in the resevoir. Now..I know you have to break open part of the coolant system to replace the fuel pressure regulator on the LLY's, so im assuming they just didnt top it off when they part-way drained the coolant to replace the FPRV. I assume I can just go to NAPA and get some Dex-cool and be on my way right??? Ive NEVER had low-coolant troubles (or overheating, knock on wood) in the truck before...but that didnt stop me from the "cracked block...coolant leak...etc." threads on the Diesel Place from swimming thru my head.:rant:

SD-455 11-26-2005, 09:27 AM When my motor is cold the low coolant level light will come on two or three minutes after I start it. Once the thermostat opens I can hit the mpg or the odometer button on the steering wheel and it will go off. So far this has only happened when it is 32 degrees or colder. The coolant level in the tank is at the same level that it was when new. Once the motor is warmed up the message will not come on again.
86underboost 11-26-2005, 09:31 AM Ben...calm-o....calm-o
They probably just didn't fill it right. But i know the feeling. I'm always thinking the worst right away. My favorite is a headgasket...it's always on my mind cuz i've done so damn many of them working on grand nationals....it's like i have flashbacks from nam or something.
You'll be fine dude

DURAtotheMAX 11-26-2005, 10:30 AM Just topped it off with some Dex-cool and all seems fine...I got a nice surprise when I opend the hood. All the wires werent put back in the plastic looms so it was kinda a mess...oh well...time to go RE-install my high-idle and headlight mod because the dealer ripped them out...thanks everyone for the reassurance!!!

RoadRunnerTR21 11-26-2005, 11:33 AM You also may want to vent to the dealer about their "Certified Work". That's a total crock. What would they do if they had to replace the rad or something that cause a loss of oil? It's that kind of crap that makes me see red!
I'm glad your rolling again.......:ro)

Just a question I would like the answer to;
Why is it that everytime I take any of my vehicles to a dealer they do something I think is just to upset or punish me the the customer for ruining their day?? One thing is they can't leave my steering wheel alone, everytime I get my truck back the steering wheel adjustment is always jacked with, (They only have to drive it a few hundred yards across their lot, leave my steering wheel alone!), they always leave all the windows down, (I live in dairy country, so guess what my truck is full of flys when I get it back). They can never seem to put wires back where they belong, or screw the air cleaner cover back on, or put the oil cap back on, or in one case they even used the wrong oil. They don't seem to understand that there is different air pressure between front tires and rear tires. Anyway I'll stop my ranting, but I am curious if anyone else has the same problems?

Your experience is not unusual. I have a 1995 Impala SS that I try to keep in pristine condition. Last time I took it in for an oil change, the car was delivered with the carpeting full of grease. Furious at first, I went to the business owner and asked him to inspect the car. He was more mad (madder?) than I was. We went directly to the service managers desk and he asked the SM to look at it also. When the SM saw it, he said "I'll get someone to clean it up right now". The owner said, "No.". "You clean it up.", and then invited me for a cup of coffee while I waited.
I believe a lot of this shoddy workmanship would go away if customer waiting rooms were placed above the workshop with big glass windows where the customers can watch the activities below. Same goes for baggage handling at the airport.

You are sooooo right. Most of the time I get my truck serviced at a place where I sit in the truck while it is being done, so far they have treated me and my truck pretty good, I think because I know exactly what they are doing because I can see and hear them working, (I really hate hearing oops) lol...

Have you filled out the survey card giving them bad marks and the making a comment why? Bet a time or two they would change. Or they just don't give $h!t.
