Hey guys, How can I tell the "upgraded" 605 tq LLY from the 590? Are all 05s equipped with the updated engine. My father has an 04.5 and I just purchased a new 05. Also, can programers be switched between the two because they are both LLYs? I did searches and could not find any info. Thanks

yes. 04.5 was the first LLY and all the 05's are 605tq.

yes, they are the same LLY, but there aren't any that can be used on 2 trucks at the same time.

That is a little misleading, so I'll explain. You can't program both trucks w/ more power at the same time w/ just one tuner. You can use a Predaator to read DTC's and get all the diagnostic readouts even if the "program" is in another vehicle. LLY Predator programmers work on LB7's for this, and LB7 Predators work on LLY's for this. The new LLY EFI live will be able to program 2 trucks at once. It should be released in a few months.

Yes programmers can be switched back and forth between the two. Of course you have to unload the programmer from the first truck before you take it to the second one.

So if you are wanting to show him the difference, unload one and walk over and install it on the other, no problem.

you can use the pred to read codes on any OBD II equipted vehichle (but i can't get it to work on the powerchoke). i have used it to read/clear codes on my ExWifes SS camaro.

Same thing with my Quad, it read and cleared the codes on my old beater 1999 Sunfire work car.

05's have a chrome oval grill, 04.5's do not.

my friend has a power program he uses for his 04 1/2 which was built in i think 05/04 which is a lly. mine is an 05 lly built in 09/04, 4 month after his and his programmer will not work on mine. it says wrong truck or something like it when connected to my truck. i am assuming he must have the the lower power truck and mine is the higher power. we thought both being a lly it would be ok but apparently it not.

Are sure he unloaded it from his truck first? We have a 4.5 and 05 and we swap turners all the time :D

we tried several times but never could get it to take. it is the hypertech system.
