A friend of mine told me that when I unplug the stock headunit to run a remote turn on it will not work again without inputting some code. Is this true? If so where do I find it?

If you are the original owner of the truck and you never activated it manually, it should be fine (it wont lock up). If you are the second owner...you'll have to take a chance...but I doubt they "armed" the Theftlock. Not a lot of people bother with it...

How does / can one "arm" their stereo? I should probably do this... Or is this defeated with the VIN Relearn via Tech 2 Tool? More info please. Info in sig.

The 2003-2006 radios are smart and do Theftlock in a cleaver and convienient way. They are ALWAYS "armed". Each time the radio is powered up, it asks the BCM for the vehicles VIN number over the Class II data bus. If the VIN number does not match the one stored in the radio (meaning, if the radio was removed and installed in another vehicle), the radio realizes that its not in its "parent" vehicle, and it locks up. The 2001-2002 radios use more of a "passive" type system. In that you arm it manually and select a 3 digit code used to unlock the radio. After the radio is armed, if power is disconnected at any time, it locks up and will not operate again until that 3 digit code is entered. Even if the radio was never removed from the vehicle (like if your battery goes dead), it will still lock up if it was previously armed. The 2003-2006 Theftlock setup is much more convienient.

BTW Escalade/Denali nav radios can have a new VIN programmed into them in about 5 minutes with a Tech 2. The non-nav (2003-2006) radios however require a full reprogramming and reinstall of their software to learn a new VIN.

Ouch! Glad I went Nav! I can see the dealer scratching their heads on that one now.

How's that Tech 2 coming along?
