I get an SES light only when it is cold and running at about 1500-1800 RPM (just for a mile or so). The light goes out either if you step on it harder or let off completely. It generates a DTC 36 and I understand that it may mean a Fuel selenoid. I replaced the PMD (SSDiesel) but that did not fix the problem. The truck runs fine.
1. Is there anyway I can verify that the fuel selenoid is the problem?
2. Should I be concerned with the DTC 36?
3. If I have to replace the Fuel selenoid, is it difficult to change?
Thanks for any help.

Do you put any oil in your fuel tank. WVO, SVO, tranny fluid, motor oil? It helps to lubricate these pumps and #2 diesel isn't enough.

DTC 36 > 99% time = FSOL (Frigin Sheet Outa Luk)
2. Should I be concerned with the DTC 36?
Not really, just start saving your money up.
3. If I have to replace the Fuel selenoid, is it difficult to change?
Normal procedure is to replace the whole pump. Really not servicable.

I never put any other lubrication in the fuel.
1. What kind of fuel additives do you add?
2. So how long before this will be an issue? 10,000? 20,000? 50,000? (typically). The light pretty much just started to come on...

Most any oil (that is virgin corn, saffrol, cottonseed, or yellowgrease) tranny fluid, 30wt or namebrand additive.
I have had some luck repairing the fsol but it's not easy.

So how much oil would you add to a tank of fuel? Or does it depend on what type of oil you use?
Well replacing another pump wouldn't be good. All of the other ones were warranty. Looks like this next pump will be on me... Ouch. I have never tried to replace one myself. Looks like it could be a big job. I have worked on a lot of gassers but never tore into a diesel.
- Is Replacing the IP a difficult job? Experience mechanic takes how long to replace?
Sorry for so many questions in one post...

Time to go find a good low mileage speedo assembly to get your truck back in warranty.

Depends on how many buddies you have over and how much beer is on hand.
A1 tech can change it out in 2 1/2 hr , average Joe maybe 5hr, weekend warrior all day and then he'll have to fix the leaks.
Don't worry about all the questions just the answers you get.

120,000 mile 11 year warranty. Make you happy or sad?

A quart to many gallon per tankful depending on your desired fuel viscosity or level of alternate fuel source (for example you can run 100% veggie oil if your set up to preheat it and can switch back to #2 at shutdown).
The Ip is really not that hard, just don't bend those metal fuel lines or it will get harder.

As far as getting the IP replaced under the warranty (special policy 00064D)
- Would a SES light when cold and a DTC 36 be enough for them to replace the IP?
I checked out the FAQ and seen Turbine Doc's post about what I need to ensure prior to visiting... I do have a PMD still on the pump so I will remove my remote PMD prior to visiting and hook up the old. But I did not want to take it in if they would not be willing to check it out without having to pay them a $$$ to see if that is the case.
Thanks

Complaint that it stalls or goes dead for no reason should be enough symptoms for injection pump replacement.
