couple of my co workers have a home made setup on their trucks(peterbilt- cat motors) I have yet to try it as I break my truck(peterbilt) enough as is....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif one of our 1-ton route trucks also has this setup on it.... (f-550 powerstroke)

anyways..... this kit is just a winshield washer resevoir(sp?) with the pump in the bottom of the tank... with a small line plumbed into the intake pipe just beyond the air filter. the jetting it easily adjustable since all the nozzle really is is an adjustable sprayer like you'd find on a chemical sprayer(like those little pump up tanks with a wand for sprayign just about anything)

anyone ever heard of this or experimented with it??

It is also called “gaseous intercooling” it is use on supercharged gas motors a lot. Here is a company that sells kits http://www.carrollsupercharging.com/oldsite/index2.html . The kits control the water injection based on boost levels. They also have valves to keep the injectors from leaking.

I have no idea how they would work on Diesel motors, I really don’t know much about diesels. That is why I am hanging out here.

I had a system on my 5.7L Tahoe with Whipple supercharger. It worked very well and lowered EGT a ton, I was able to run 3lbs of boost (that is a lot for a supercharger)more with out detonation. It was a pain to add water, plus I had to add alcohol to the water in the winter so the water would not freeze. I should have just got a larger tank but my wife did me a favor and totaled the truck. So I didn’t have to worry about adding water anymore.

Hope this helps,

Pyle
