The switch is in the door catch mechanism. Disassembly of the interior of the problem door is required.

ive had some short term sucsess slaming the doors really hard and with soaking them with oil but the best fix is to either replace the faulty latch or just unplug the latch from inside the door, no mater how you look at it its a pain and also a common problem with alot of fords

Good luck

some one with a good scan tool should be able to tell you which door is messing up

Ford uses a backwards door sensor system. When the door is close the wire is grounded and when the door is open the wire is an open circuit. If there is a break anwhere in the system the lights will stay on. I suspect you might have a broken wire perhaps in a door jam boot.

When you hit 15 mph does the interior light turn off? When you have this problem you need some grease by the door catch mechanism. The Excursion just had this problem and I know a few other guys that had the same problem. Greasing or using DW40 is the way to fix it but keep it oiled or the problem will come back.

i had a 7.3 with the same problem. went to the dealer and the service guy came out with a can of wd40. sprayed inside the door latch and shut it several times, never had a problem with it again. it was the driver door in my case.
