This is my first post on this forum, and I would like your help. I have a 99-F-250 psd that I pull a 34ft fiver with. I want a new Dodge cummings. The dodge rides much better than the Ford. It will be a quad cab ,dual wheel,4x4, my question is will the 48re auto trans hold up towing a 12,200 lb camper. I drive a semi and really don't want to shift gears on vacation. Your thoughts are really appreciated.

I and my customers have been beating on 48re's for over a year now and not so much as a hiccup out of any of em. If you get one be sure to get the 4.10 axle ratio instead of the standard 3.73's. It really makes it pull better and virtually eliminates gear hunting.
how will the 4/10s effect fuel milage. Just wondering.

The 48RE is also warranteed for 7yrs./100k,am I right Luke? You are the same Luke from GM diesel, right?I'm planning on a new 3500 and I'm also debating on getting the auto.I'll keep my eye on others to see but it sounds like a tough tranny.I'm also debating on DRW or SRW.I like the looks of the dually but then you got 2 more tires to buy and a little harder to get around.Oh well I still got a little bit to decide.I want to pay off the 99 first and keep it to play withhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif.Oh yea rving welcome and not to be smart it's CUMMINS,no G on the endhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif ...Doug Edited by: dougf

I think the warranty is 7 years/ 70,000. But, I believe that's with a deductible after the first 3 years/36000. (except the engine, which is still 5/100)
