It's my impression that the average dealership does not sell many diesels, several in my area have no diesels on their lot at all. Even the dealerships that do have diesels don't have many on the premisis. Makes me wonder how many diesel mechanics a dealerships has or are all the mechanics at a dealership trained in diesels ? I would think they would have some that are specialized and only do diesels ? And how do you find out what kind of training the guy that works on your diesel has ? Please enlighten me...thanks

Its been my expierence that many dealerships do not have any diesel mechanics. After getting mine serviced a few times at the local dealership I asked the question and was informed that they do not have any diesel technicians and if necessary will send work to other dealerships. Good luck.

I remember when the Duramax first came out that the dealership had to have at least 1 certified Duramax mechanic in order to sell the Duramax truck. The service manager at my dealership told me this a few years ago. I'm not sure if that still applies....

When I first bought my Dmax in 02, which I bought out of state, I called my local dealer and told him I had a new Dmax. He said "stop right there, we don't work on them yet!" And this was at a Huge dealership.

most dealers dont have educated diesel techs. I get trucks from other dealers around the state/area that other dealers have sent over

Perhaps we should start a listing of good diesel techs at dealerships. I knowI would love to know where a good one is in Atlanta (just in case).

Cruz , Bellamy Strickland in Mcdonough, GA advertises themselves as the truck capital of GA. And I know for a fact that they have lots of certified techs and lots of DMax parts in stock.

If I ever have any major issues under warranty, it will be either there or Cronic here in Griffin, I know they have 2 diesel certified techs there, just not as many parts in stock.
