I suppose it depends on your definition. I'd say stock mustangs are slow, a lot of people that drive em think they arnt, my truck ran high 11's and while it aint bad for a PU truck or any vehicle on the street for that matter I still thought it seemed slow.

No they arnt fast IMO

Fast? No I believe they are the same as the LB7, and LLY. At about 97 mph the computer stops fuel delivery so it can not go faster.

Quick? Most likely it is quick if you compare it too the LB7.

High 15's in the quarter stock I would imagine. On one of the "lighter" cab configurations that is.

Doesn't the shuttle hit 24,000 mph? So I guess we are all slow.

And chimps where in the first space ships and they've been 24,000 mph toooo.

So unless someone on here has been as fast as the speed of light, I guess we're all S L O W ):h

edit-and that is the 06 LLY.

Yeah, I would image the acceleration is something that is pretty sweet...But, 150 MPH about 6 inches off the ground with your knee and leg dragging, then to roast you rear tire sideways out of a turn, while your front comes off the ground....

Nothing like it

I highly doubt you could get a duramax 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. I'm not going to say it is impossible...buttttt...perhaps with some solid fuel rocket motors like they mount on C-130 transports it is possible.

Here are a few 0-60 of some of the very fastest cars for comparison's sake:

Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante 5.0 sec
Audi S4 w/4.2L 4.9 sec
BMW E39 M5 4.8 sec
Chevrolet Corvette ZO6 3.5 sec
Ferrari 612 Scaglietti 4.6 sec
Ford Mustang GT 4.6L V8 5.1 sec
Hummer H2 10.7 sec
McLaren F1 3.9 sec (I believe McLaren makes the quickest car)

And on of my favorites...my grandma had one many years ago..

Audi 5000S Diesel 20.5 sec

Most of todays cars such as a camary, accord etc are 0-60 in around 8-10 seconds.

I found an older moter trend report from 2002 that listed the duramax's 0-60 at 8.4 sec. With more power and more torque it is probably slightly quicker...but five seconds???

My M5 has a 400hp engine and 370 ft*lbs of torque and weighs in at about 4,000 lbs and is geared for quickness. My experience...
0-60 is the 7 second range is a lot quicker than you think when it is casual type driving. Next time you get on the freeway, just count to yourself how long it takes you to get to 60. It is probably well over 20 seconds.

If our trucks with 300 hp took 8.4 to 60mph then I highly doubt you'll even see anything in the 7's. It takes alot to gain a little on your sixty footers. My dragbike was 0-60= 1 sec, 0-100= 3seconds, three g's. Take that knee dragger........

Big difference between 60 FOOT times and 0-60 mph times.

My old Ford used to do 1.1 60' times and that was on a slippery track (no front wheels in the air).

It takes a little more skill set to race a motorcycle than it does to sit on your butt and smash a gas pedal for 10 seconds, and then pull 2 gears, and then pull a parachute string... :muahaha:or whatever you do in there...

When you can race at over 130AVG Speed for 30-45 Mins, come and see me, and we'll talk... :ro) :joke:

Oh yeah...racing cars is all about the car...Anybody can sit and race a car...80% Car, 20% Driver...Race a motorcycle and it is 80% Rider, 20% bike...

It is an old sayin' that a Motorcycle Champion can easily be a Race Car Champion, but a Race Car Champion has a very slim chance at being a Motorcycle Champion :)
