hi everyone: bought my first truck june '04: 2004.5 LLY crew cab, 4x4 allison, short bed. stock except for A.R.E MX top with vented windoors, reflex spray in bed liner, ICI wheel to wheel step bars. (train labrador retrievers for field trials, so crates are in the back along with lots of gear and firearms!). Tow 24' trailer x/c 4x (AZ to WI, AZ to GA) and have avg 9mpg towing (+1 mpg if no a/c), 17 mpg hiway unloaded at 70. :( considering hypertech power programmer for tow power and mileage...any inputs from you experts?? ive had a freak engine problem early (threw exhaust rocker bolt.arm at 1000 mi, not fun) but i do LOVE this truck!! :help: oh, i have 38K on it now....next trip is in Jan...

moving to LLY Electronics

Ive heard positive things in regards to hypertech and towing, but i wouldnt personally know, i run the edge with attitude (lv3) and i noticed about a 3-5mpg increase (hand calculated, but i also got the intake/exhaust done at the same time). Towing in number 2 on edge is whats reccomended and i'm sure you'd get more power/mpg.
then again i have a LB7 so...

My rig is about 15 -15.5K. I used to get 11.5mpg (with odo corrected for 265 tires, but before Hypertech). I now get 13mpg towing with Hypertech at level 3. Overall, it is much more responsive on the low end. I'm not allowed to accellerate too fast or go too fast because of the horse, so that mileage is mostly at 65 mph cruising. I have not noticed any change in my daily commute, which is about 20 miles - mix of country roads and urban stop and go - net of 17 mpg. The DIC went crazy and started reporting 15 mpg towing and 18.5 on the commute when I put in the Level 3 programming. It appears to have affected the gallons used number???

I understand from other forum posts that Hypertech is kinda the old guy programmer. No codes thrown, not many problems, adds low end and towing power, but is not that fast when compared to other programmers. I'm pretty happy with it for my towing load; very responsive. It has always maintained speed on superhighways in 5th gear tow haul and not needed to downshift. With the Hypertech, it is very responsive to the throttle when I go to manual. With the truck empty, it accellerates fast enough to scare me, so yeah, it is pretty good for this old guy.

I wonder if I will ever get mini road rage and have to soot someone; it will certainly do that also.

Got a hypertech for sale, its worked awesome, but i need guages, so im getting an edge. Anyways hypertech ran real well towing in level 1, also really fun in level 3 unloaded. Most call it the "safe" chip, because you cant really hurt the trans with the chip on lvl 3. Apparently those edge guys cant help but going to lvl 5 all the time! pm me if interested, its like NEW! Also i soot people all time, butalot less since i got the BS, Damn that BS! lol

I like my HT.........but seriously considering a Predator !! HT does give more power and is fun.......no codes......no problems.......cheap !!

But I only ran a 10.09 1/8th mile. Looking for something to get me in the 9's that I can run around on all the time and hopefully not hurt the tranny !!

Seems like the HT on L3 yields about 15.4-15.6 qtr mile times.........Predators seem to run 14.7-15.1 on the low 65 hp setting and low 14's on the 120 hp setting !! Plus it'll up the speedo !!

Surfrippa..........you should be proud ! Everything I have read here and the tests I have seen in magazines are all about 16.7 qtr miles stock on a 2500LLY ! The LB7's and the LBZ seem to hit high 15's stock but not the LLY .........I am assuming because it defuels in first gear whereas the other's don't !!

Hypertech's website has a video and some tables comparing their programmers to others and they got a 15.6 on L3 in a 2500 .....which they claim was slighlty faster than an Edge on 5 but I find it hard to believe !!

Yeah its ****ty i really dont know what my truckreally does, i would find out but im not driving to pomona, they just shut downmy local race track where i used to race my chevelle. My buddy has one of thos elctronic things (dont remember the name) but i think im going to ask to borrow it...Anyways i'll post up results... BUT, I beat a new dodge durango, and i beat a 5 series 4 door BMW yesterday when the guy driving was being a dickehead, I wonder what his wife said when she saw my tailpipe go by her face....!
