Hey guys... It's been a long time since I've posted.. Too darn busy with work these days. Anyway! - A buddy of mine wanted me to ask the following question and any info would be greatly appreciated:-

"I am looking for any info on what might be causing the clunk when I put it in reverse. It only happens after the truck has warmed up and I have been driving it for about 30min. When I put it into reverse it engages, but after about 2sec it feels like I backed into something. I have tightened everything up, and I cannot get an answer from the dealership about this problem. It started about a week after I had the truck. So it does not have anything to do with what I have done to the truck. I saw on here about the NSBU switch, but not real sure if that would fix it. I don't have any problems with it shifting just the clunk after about 2sec of putting it into reverse and only reverse. "

thanks

I would recommend he compare it to other trucks to make sure he's not just concerned about something that is normal. All vehicles have a certain amount of drivetrain play. 4x4 trucks tend to have the most.

I wonder if the drive shaft spline is dry causing a suspension "sit" "bump" or clunk ??

I remember early on a TSB or fix for a similiar problem ...

Remove driveshaft grease splin reinstall ,something like that ...

Ask you buddy the following.

( see my post here)

Tranny clunk in reverse (http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5323&PN=1)

Is it right after placing in reverse, or only when you give a bit of throttle

Hey guys I am the one that blowingsmoke has asked ya'll a question about. I have done everything that I can think of, but nothing has worked for me. If ya'll can give me somemore info on some possible ideas you might have that would be great.
