Finally got around to installing the Nicktane filter kit. Bracket installed a few weeks ago, the filter and lines this weekend.

I don't know if it's possible to install it on a 2004 CC without dropping the tank. There's a bracket in the way of bending down the tank shield on the '04 so I couldn't get to the tank fitting from underneath. I took the straps off the tank and the fill hose off the filler tube and lowered it about 8 inches. I could probably have got the line off from the wheel well side, but don't think I could have tightened the hose clamp. Didn't pre-fill the filter, didn't have a spare fuel can to use so I just pumped (164 times) the primer under the hood after it died, and it started up fine. Seemed to have a slight surge at an idle for a while but it went away after I drove it for about 30 miles.

Nice kit Nick, might have to update the instructions for an '04 CC unless someone else reports they did it without lowering the tank. I have no idea what that bracket's there for but it's a problem for the typical install for sure.

My experience is the same, the bracket does not allow you to bend the shield out, unless you mangle it pretty badly. I am going to cut the supply line and splice in the filter supply side, and disconnect the line as Nick suggests and put the filter outlet line on as per Nick's instructions. I intend to leave enough on the cut off connector to splice it back to the supply line. Should only take an other clamp, and reconnect the Q-Connector.

I too did the bracket a couple weeks ago, and hope to get to plumbing in this week end. Note, I had to mussle over the bracket a bit (bend it) to keep it from hitting the spring mount. Can't stand no thunks or cluncks.

Hey anyone, I have butted the hose Nick supplies up against the Connector shoulder. Either I am a woose, or that hose will not easily go over that shoulder. From Nick's pictures, butting the shoulder seems to be the way it is done. Any see this as a problem or was I smarter that I thought. LLY trucks I notice you dont have to lower tank. Shield is in the way, but you can get around it. Lines are closer to the edge of tank so you dont have to drop tank to gain access

I had the same problem. I pushed the hose up until it was tight against the shoulder and tightened the clamp. I have 1200 on the Nicktane and no problems what so ever.
