Anyone using the Commercial Yellow Tops? These things are absolutely nuts, i figure they could be a good addition with all my stereo junk.

They are better than the red tops. When you have a problem and have to crank alot, the red tops will let you down.

But red charges faster or better less resistance something. The way I understand it is. If your going to put draw on your battery while your truck is off or you over draw your charging system go yellow other wise go red. Odysseys are good batteries too.

I used to always use Delco's, seems the last one I got (which lasted about 2 years max) was made in China/Mexico/Taiwan -:t

Got a Red top $Optima$ and it has been pretty good so far, though this is on an LS1.

Cheers,
Ross

What about in colder Climates Mike?
Will the Yellow still outperform the Reds?

I believe the Red-Tops have more cold-cranking-amps for starting. As was said, the yellow tops are better for powering equipment with the engine off for long periods of time.

I have a red top that's 7 years old, is in it's 4th vehicle, and has been nearly drawn dead several time. I'm starting to believe the only thing that will stop it is a sledge hammer.

I hope I didn't just jinx it.

I use a Yellow top with my twins cause I had to mount it on the frame. They are also vibration resistant. I'v use both reds and yellows before no probs and I think they are worth the money and piece of mind.

Yellow tops you can run down to nothing and they will still recharge and come back to life pretty much like they were new. Red tops won't. I have a yellow top in my boat for the starting battery, I can leave it in all winter and just charge it up in the spring, ready to run. The red tops would be toast probably.
