I would like to install a tachometer because the truck doesn't have one stock. This is a 91 Blazer. Not completely sure if I even need one, but I'd like to be able to know at what rpm's the engine/transmission are doing what. What all would this install encompass. I assume it's going to have to get it's control from the computer.. Maybe an injector or something. Really I have no idea where the tach needs to get it's input from.
Also, I'm pulling a code 32, which according to Haynes is an EGR circuit fault. To me the most likely culprit is the solenoid that provides vacuum to the valve because the service engine light only comes on at idle and goes away when under throttle. I wonder if I even need EGR at all, should I just get rid of the whole system, and if I do, will the service engine light always stay on anyways. Please don't tell me to just pull the bulb out of the light. Any thoughts on this? I don't want to go buy a bunch of unnecessary parts.
