No adjustment. The amp is located under the center consol. The factory sub is also laocated under there. The only thing you can do is add a aftermarket amp and tap into the wires under the consol. If you by the converter that changes it from your speaker wire to rca's they will tell you what color wire goes to aech speaker.

I am running a jl audio 450x4 for my door speakers and a jl audio 500x1 for my two subs. I also have all jl door speakers with cross overs. The whole installation only took me a day. It took me the longest just to route the wires. Hooking up the amps to the pre-existing amp wires only took about 30 min.

Sounds like I'm not the only one dissapointed in the Bose system we paid so dearly for. The rear speakers are a joke. Would there be any bennefit to cutting grills into the sides of the console to let the Bass out? any other simple fixes that might help it sound better? would a simple speaker swap for the rear help? Are they fed through an amp?

I don't think cutting the center console will help, because of the way bass travels. Replacing the rear speakers is a chore. You have to cut the original mount to fit the larger speakers that I put in. I first replaced all the speakers with no additional amp. It sounds a lot clearer but not any louder. No way around getting additional amps if you want it loud.

You could add an extra sub in back. Sometimes it fools us into thinking our stereo is much louder when it is just more bass. It is quick and easy and sort of cheap depending on what kind of speaker you go with.

I doubt very seriously that the Bose amp has enough umph to push another sub! It seems like it barely pushes the factory one, thats why I was hoping for a way to tweak the amp abit.

To run an additional sub you would mount in behind or under the rear seat. You would have to add a small amp to power the sub. You connect the amp to the wires under the console. Any stereo shop can do this or if you don't mind the hassel you need to buy an inline converter, which taps into the existing wires under the console and turns them into rca's for the amp. If you pull out the cup holder part of the console you will see them. They might also make a clip to plug into the wires instead of splicing into the existing ones. After you have the amp installed you can build your own box out of mdf (any lumber store should carry) or you can by a box already made. Subbox.net carries them or I would recomend a JL Stealth box. You can find a decent amp for 100-200, the converter for 50 and a good sub and box 300. Stealth boxes usully run around 400-500 with speaker. These are top of the line. Just this alone will make a big difference. If you want to go all out and replace everything it can cost upwards of 3000, but it sure sounds awesome and very clear. There is a big difference in those annoying cars that all you hear is bass and the ones that you can hear the music over the bass.

Good luck!

When I removed my center console I was able to find a place to relocate the Bose amp, but not the subwoofer. To determine how much of a loss it would be not having it, I ran listening tests with the sub hooked up and disconnected. Much to my surprize, unless the bass was turned all the way up, I could hear no difference in the sound with the sub connected or disconnected. And with the bass all the way up the sound wasn't very pleasing. I could verify when the sub was connected by seeing the cone move. My conclusion is that the Bose subwoofer is not there to help the sound, but to provide another feature to list in the advertising. Its enclosure is pretty teenie, volume-wise.
