I am going to buy a new truck in the next couple of weeks, I currently have a 2005 dodge cummins 6 speed, and I do not like the six speed at all, so I would like to know if you guys with the autos have any problems with them. Should I go with the new chevy duramax w/the lbz or 2006 dodge cummins w/ auto trans

swdiesel, I have the auto and don't have enough miles to be a good judge of the longevity of the tranny. Drove both manual and auto and I bought the auto because it shifts better than I do. Look at the tranny thread for more data to get an idea. From what I understand the newer 48re is better than the 47re transmission for Dodges. Good luck with whatever you get.

Well I decided on a truck I drove both chevy and dodge and they are both very nice trucks, but there were more things that I did not like on the chevy then I did on the Dodge, the biggest complaint I have on the chevys has to be There ground clearance(frame rails) and there horrible mirrors. There were a few other thing that felt cheap to me but wont go there, I did love the power and the tranny though I just wish it had a differant suspension. My new truck is a 2006 dodge 2500 4x4 auto with every option except leather.:ro)

Congrats on your new truck. With the Chevy, what works with one person doesn't with another. That is why I like to see the trucks be different. If they were all the same we'd be stuck. You gotta post some pics now!!

How do you like the auto? I don't really care for the way my 05 shifts, coming from a Ford there is just NO comparison in the smoothness of the shifting.

i have a 2005 cummins with an auto trany and a banks six gun and no problums. dont get a duramax. its a girly truck
