New Vehicle Order? This information was compiled by myself and my salesman while tracking the build process for my new truck. Maybe it will help you find out where yours is along the way.

Here are the order event codes your dealer will have access to, which allow you to track the progress of your order through the system. This system is known as "VOMS" and stands for "Vehicle Order Management System", it's available at all the dealers through the same computer they use to order vehicles. I don't know if GM changes these codes periodically, but these were current for the order of my truck from November, 2003 to January, 2004

There are a couple of things you need to be aware of. Not all dealers either know how to use this system, or will be especially happy to help you with this. There is typically only one individual at the dealership, unless it's a large one, who orders vehicles and who will know how this system works and can provide you with the information. So ask nicely....

These event codes are pretty much numerical, but will not always appear in numerical order. Usually if that happens, there will be a couple of codes on the same day. They will have effective dates and usually end dates for that particular code, and will be followed by a couple of words of text I'll list here, then my comment about what the code means. They will also appear in reverse order on the VOMS to what you see here, but I've listed them this way for ease of understanding. These updates will usually show up on the dealer's computer within 24 to 48 hours after they occur. And last, these should be considered the "usual" time frames, your's could be either shorter, or longer.

Good luck on your new "Baby".....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

1101<X-TAB> </X-TAB>Preliminary Order Added ---- This is the first step and your dealer will get a six digit order number before he signs off the ordering computer at the dealership.

1100<X-TAB> </X-TAB>Preliminary Order Accepted --This means GM has picked up the order. If you don't get one of these in a very few days, it most likely means your dealer does not have allocation. You may want to find another dealer, or at least find out when they will have a slot. If there is a problem with something you wanted, that will usually show up in a day or two and will prevent this code from showing until that problem is resolved.

2000<X-TAB> </X-TAB>Accepted by GM --Okay, the factory has taken the order from the dealer. Your order hasn't got any equipment conflicts.

2500<X-TAB> </X-TAB>Preferenced --This will normally occur the same day as the 2000, sold retail orders are supposed to have preference over all others, i.e. fleet and stock. Your dealer also has to say "I want this first".

3000<X-TAB> </X-TAB>Accepted by Production Control -- This is where they start scheduling all the parts so they'll be at the final assembly plant together and you'll be given the TPW. This is your last chance to make changes, but changes will delay your TPW or Targeted Production Week. If everything looks good, this will happen <X-TAB></X-TAB>within about 2 weeks. Your TPW will normally be about four weeks from this date.

3100<X-TAB> </X-TAB>Available to Sequence -- There's no set time frame, but it's usually about four weeks into the process. Now the waiting gets tougher. It's got to wait for similar cab types and colors to be scheduled. No changes to the order from here on out.

3300<X-TAB> </X-TAB>Scheduled

Great job Zeeb!

Now only if the dealers would be more willing to help or knew how to use VOMS.

Zeeb,

Very good job. How are you enjoying your baby. I wish we could track our orders on-line, dealers are a bit "difficult" to obtain info.
