Has anyone changed their DRL's, with say the Silverstars, or something abit brighter? If so, what size bulb is it, and what is the number on it? Thanks in advance.

I changed mine but to amber colored bulbs so they kind of look like bright parking lights when there on. Sort of like the vettes and camaros look. The guy at the auto parts store looked up the part number and gave me the amber colored ones.

I was thinking of changing to Amber too. What ones seem brighter or more visible in the day, Amber or White?

I used the Sylvania (SP?) long life amber lights. Have been in over 2 years now and have not had one blow yet, unlike the OEM lights. Don't know what ones are brighter, but you will be COOL http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif with the amber lights. Not many around hear with them.

Thinking about going with the Silver stars at some time! Be COOLER http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif

Is it legal to run amber for your DRL's?

Pretty sure it is legal the vettes and camaros came like that from the factory.

Just go to a good parts store and have the guy look up your DRL part # and then he can convert that to a amber bulb #

Next time I have my front end apart I'll look for the number if you dont have it by then

I think the part# on the amber lights is 4157-NALL

How about 3157-NALL? The normal bulb is 3157KX. Or at least it is on an 01.Edited by: PoolRebel

You can use a regular 3157NA The "NA" stands for amber and the "LL" stands for longlife. I have been running 3157NA in mine for about 8 monthes or so and havent had one blow out yet.

I too use the 3157NA bulbs. They're brighter than the amber parking lights. I love the look. I'm going on over a year with no burn outs.

Another good thing about the 3157 bulbs is that they are also the stop/tail bulbs and a couple spares in the glovebox can do double replacement duty.

The correct new bulb to use in the DRLs is 4157K (GM#1999482). This is a krypton bulb, and they burn cooler than the normal bulbs. A normal light bulb burns too hot in this application, and they fail very quickly, as well as scorching the sockets. The krypton bulbs have a different looking spectrum (a little more amber, but nothing like the bulbs that use yellow glass), and they look cool IMO. They also last.

I found these:

and might give them a try. Any input?

I know from experience on motorcycles that if you put a LED cluster bulb in a clear lens housing, it will not appear very bright, but if you put it in a lens housing with refractor angles, it will look great! (This is in reference to tail light/break lights)

I might order some and experiment....Edited by: 2MuchFun

i can't find any 4157K bulbs. no one around me carry them.

where else can i try? can i get them online?

right now i'm using 3157na bulbs. will i have any problems with the 3157s? i've notice when i changed out the oem ones. the plug was burned a little. the truck only have 300 hrs on it.

thanks
