Well I just got the edge with attitude installed and after reading the book am kinda confused. It says not to run the stock engine over the 2 setting and to tell the truth I can't seem to tell much difference. Is something wrong, I was expecting a lot more get up and go!! Thanks for any help you can give me.......

Do you have exhaust upgrades? If not then your egt's will be your limiting factor on what level you can run. Your right foot also can control the egt's. I can feel a performance gain in level one, but it realy wakes up starting at level 3. I would not think you would have a prob running in three, just watch those egt's, I dont like to run much over 1100 degrees. Short durration spikes are reasonable above 1100. Get an exhaust man!!!!!:grd:

No upgrades yet...what size exhaust do I look at and will I be able to tell any thing then?? Will be using the truck this summer to pull a big 5'ver. What will happen If I turn it to 5 setting just to see how it GOES!!

Was your engine up to operating temperature when you put your foot into it? Engine has to be up to temp for unit to work properly. I have stock exhaust and there is a huge difference on level 3. Substantial gain on 2 and a slight but noticeable gain on 1.

You should be safe.I installed a juice with moniter about a month ago.Im still on the stock exhaust too, thanks to sneeky guys outbidding me on E-bay,and havent seen much over 1100.Make sure you have the EGT probe though.I have an intake too and my truck feels real strong in all modes might just be lucky I guess.

Yeah, depending on which revision of the Juice you have, it wont provide full fuel until you reach 174 or 180 degrees coolant temp.

Juice w/'tude will not provide benefit until it reaches 160*, then only 50%. After it reaches full temp, I'm thinking 190*, it gives full benefit. Does your Mod Temp function show anything other than 0? Mine doesn't either. Thinking its normal.

Mod Temp is the temp of the Juice Module. I called Edge when mine was reading 0, and was told it was used for testing and that most out there read 0.

As for Power, I have a Stock Exhaust and I still feel power gains in all levels (it's been on the truck for 40k). I usually run mine in 1 and it feels much more driveable than stock. I can tell that my EGT's will build up rather quickly thou, so and exhaust will be next. The Problem I have is I want to find one that is quiet as stock. I like the way it sounds now, and don't want it getting any louder.

Close enough...

From Edge-
The Ver # 1.2 will give you 50% fueling from the Juice @ 167 degrees. By 176 degrees you will have 100% fueling. The Ver # 1.0 will turn on @ 180 degrees.

the manual says not to "tow" over level 2 because of high exhaust temps. Normal driving you can use level 3 without hurting things. Levels 4 and 5 are a NO NO on a stock tranny unless you have the money to upgrade it.

Since you have the attitude just wait until it shows the engine temp is 180..then go have some fun.

What kind of upgrades to the tranny, and how much $ to do? Or do I do an exhaust first? Thanks everybody for the help, this is a GREAT SITE.

Aaahhhhh. Levels 4 and 5 aren't no no's! Just be carefull with them. Mine is never below level 4 unless i am towing and mine is the HOT Juice.:ro)

"Just be careful"... meaning there is more risk in 4 and 5 and easily can hurt the tranny. You can run those levels all you want, but when/if your tranny starts complaining don't come back and ask why.. lol

I have the Edge on my '03, and I can tell its there! Level 3 on a wet road will get the butt to try to swap ends with the front if not careful (fun though; esp in a dually!)
I also have stock exhaust, but swapped in an aftermarket muffler. Didn't have a pyro before the change, so I can't say if it helped EGT's any, but I've only seen 1300 on the dyno, and normally have a very hard time breaking 1000 unloaded in lvl 3 on our local hills going full out.

I can attest to this as well.. I run Level 3 all the time, except for towing and I can break loose the tires through 3 gears. I don't do that often since tires aren't cheap, neither is diesel. ;-)

I currently am running it stock because I sent my Edge in for the free update to 1.2

You have to think about the load on the powertrain. Engineers put a lot of strength in there so that when you tow @ MAX weight with a stock powertrain, it survives. With an empty truck, you can increase (juice) power and strain the powertrain just as hard as you could with a stock truck loaded heavily. Edge seems to think that level 3 on an empty truck produces about as much powertrain stress as level 1 does with a max gross weight truck. So, if you want to smoke the tranny (the weakest link in the powertrain), hook up to a flatbed with a couple cars on it, dial up 5 on the attitude, and start your stopwatch...

Use level 2 for towing. Any higher and you may run too hot depending an how heavy you are towing.

If I install a larger exhaust system will that help with the heat problem. I wil be pulling a 120000# 5ver this summer and need all the power I can get, that's why I bought the EDGE but it sounds like you should just pull in # 1 which has only modest HP gain??????????? Thanks again for the response...........

For now I only have a small VA, but some Hot OJ is getting hard to resist. (Seen several in the classifieds lately). I plan to do the exhaust this winter, and the tranny.. someday.

How do you define "Careful" when talking about saving your tranny?

No 5-4 shifts at WOT?

Hard launches?

What else?

Thanks!!
