How much higher does the 2500hd set compared to a 1500? Im comparing some lifts, and the 6 inch on 1500's look kind of like a 4 inch on 2500hd's. Is there a 2 inch difference in stock height between the two?

It's quite a bit higher. Hard to say exactly but I would guess 6 inches higher.

From what I've seen, the 2500HD's have a 1" to 1 1/2" factory body lift compared to the 1500's this is to allow for the Dmax and Alison combo, I also think there is 1" worth of ride height out of the suspension.

When it comes to lift kits it important to remember that there are spindle lifts and full drop lifts....the RCD and Fabtech are spindle lifts(they drop the front diff 4" and get the rest from longer spidles and cranked T bars), the CST and Superlifts are full drop kits that drop the front diff and upper a-arms a full 6 inches.

I had the RCD on my last 2500HD and it was more like a 5" lift. I have the CST 6" on my new truck and it's at least 6" of lift.

Just my $0.02,

Chris

Yes there is a body lift but I think the additional springs add a lot more then another 1". I had a crew cab short box 1500 in my shop the other day and I would bet it was at least 6" lower in the rear then my truck.

so a 4 inch 2500hd lift would be higher than a 6 inch 1500?

I would certainly think so.

I don't think it would be much ~11/2". IIRC it took 6" of lift on a 1500s to clear 35s with no-little rubbing. While some have gotten 35s with no lift on 2500s it would seem that most get a 4" or 6" lift.

The HD`s and 3500`s do not have a body lift of any kind. What they do have is a much taller frame. (2" to be exact) so it is like having a body lift. The reason for the taller frame to allow the Allison fit up above the bottem of the frame rails.

My buddy has a 2001 1500 with a 6" Procomp lift and a 3" body lift and our trucks are just about the same height now, if that tells you anything.

He also has the same tires as me too.
