I'm trying to make a new 2500HD look a little more "stout". Can the ride height be adjusted by tweaking the torsion bars? If so, will this alter the ride quality?

Half of this forum is about lifting the truck with the torsion bars. Try a search and plan on an hour to take it all in and you will still not be sure of the right thing to do.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Yes, you can raise it a couple inches without screwing the alignment up too bad. It will stiffen up the ride up a little. Later! Frank

You need to realign the truck even with a torsion lift. If You replace the keys with 'green' keys, you will regain almost all of your ride quality with the addition of good shocks. You'll need new shocks anyway.

however high you go up with it, just make sure that the front is not higher than the rear. Make sure you re-align the front end after your done.

I plan on a 1" torsion bar lift in the front. Does anybody know who sells a 1" spacer for the rear? I can buy a 2" and cut it down but that seems a waste.

Thanks.

you can add keys, crank the t-bars all you want, but if the difference of height between lower control arm bolt, and bottom ball joint bolt to the ground is greater than 4.56 inches, you better buy yourself a set of CV joints. You start messing with CV joint geometery they arent going to last long(ie cv joint angles)

This is based upon a snowplow TSB I recieved from Meyers snow plows 2 years ago. GM will alllow all the cranking you want as long as the distance is within the 4.56" I previously stated.

If you want to go past 4.56" at least make sure you own stock in a reman. CV joint Company.
