I have been told by some SPL competitors that the under the seat performs better up or down fire and they have the #s to prove it.

Ryan,

I've read both ways, according to people on this board. I went with a Pro Box behind the seat dual 10's box and am very happy with it. I did not want to lose the ability to fold my seats flat or store stuff under the seats.

If you do a search you will find the threads I am talking about where people debate which sounds better. I have not had both so I can't tell you which is better, but I can tell you that I am very happy with mine, and have heard another member's truck with a homemade behind the seat box and it sounded good also.

had both, and down fire is louder tighter and cleaner, and will preasureize the cabin better because you dont have to fire through a seat ,(imagine yelling through a pillow , not very easy to get the same db )

downfire gets my vote

:exactly: .

I think what also helps mine is I have the "rubber" floor, instead of carpet.

Sorry guys gotta disagree. I wanted more thump than my down 12 could provide so I put two Solo L7 10s" behind the rear seat, added a more watts and now, WOW, tighter, feels better on my back too:)
It really depends on what you listen to. If you listen to Snoop poop or some crap like that then I would down fire to get more BOOM but If you like rock or country or alternative, go with behind the seat. Ive had it both ways and now Im happy.:ro)

Dave putting everything I don't know about your setup beside an l7 has the same cone area as one 12. So by going with 2 subs you doubled your output right there then you add more power there's even more output. The type of music you listen to should have no bearing on where you put your box. What does is the res. of the cab it's self and the subs you what to use.

My two JL 10W3v2's do a great job behind the seat. I do however have my entire cab covered in two layers of sound deadener, and drive them with alot of JL watts. I have heard an under seat box with lesser subs and watts that sounded pretty strong...so maybe better, I don't know. I am tempted to give it a shot one of these days though.
