My problem is when driving with the edge with attitude on 5/5, trans defueling on all locked shifts. Everything is great in most drag situations:ro) in most highway situations it will go into 5th, lock up and all is normal so far..... but a few time with i have layed back into it it1 will kick down hard into fourth gear and stick there. During that time i have tryed to go into neutral and back with no sucsess still in fourth gear. The other wierd thing when this happens it won't even let me go into reverse just Park or 4th. The trans will stay in fourth gear until I compleatly stop and shut the truck off and let it sit for about 20 mins. It has only done this about 3 times and the idiot light comes on after but after a few drives it goes away.
I am running a 05 LLY ext cab, 4X4, 265 nitto's, AFE stage 2 intake with pro7 filter, 4inch turbo back w/o cat and muffler

You've limped your tranny! The more it happens, the more it will happen. Level 5 is way to much for a stock tranny...start savings!:(

When it kicks down hard into 4th the TC is going unlocked and not by normal means. You're going to need some new clutches. You can have a competent Allison guy rebuild your tranny with stock clutches and add a Transgo kit with a tripple disc TC and it will hold the Edge. IMHO you are better off getting a tranny kit such as SC or ATS installed especially since you are having to pay all the labor to tear it apart anyway. Good luck.

I had heard that from some friends, "limp mode", basicly the truck is saying no way to prevent more damage right? One other question is it better to modify now or finish killing the bands and clutches now?

well, if you finished off the tranny, and only the clutches were friend, well you'd be good for a new batch of parts. More than likely you would take out other things as well, and the truck would leave you stranded, and then you're probably looking at a hefty tow bill.

I'd read page 11 and 12 of the Edge manual..

You know i'm not a compleat idiot and did read the book upon install. I just wanted to know what was going on and if it was way out of the ordinary. The common slip I can understand but staying locked in one gear seemed a little wierd.

You know i'm not a compleat idiot
It was not my intention to make anyone feel like an idiot.. my point was this- Edge recommends in the manual not running levels 4 or 5 without tranny upgrades or you will hurt it. (i.e. limping)
You are running that level on a stock tranny and now wondering why you have problems. Thats all I'm referring to.

I was rather shocked though as I went to the track a few weeks ago, made at least a dozen passes on lvl 5 never limped once, and with the 35's I figured I would be more prone to limping the tranny.

It just sounded sarcastic, sorry. I fully know i'm pushing the tran's power holding limit:cool: but the way it was acting(sticking in just one forward gear) seemed wierd so i figuered i would ask.
