i have an 02 D/A with about 55k. it has been maintained and serviced well. I do very little towing and currently run edge/*** level 1-3 and sometimes 4 and 5. I have hot-rodded around but have not been continuously abusive on the truck (watched for slipage, towed carefully, no wot shifts, and kept under 1300egt). number 1, i have noticed within the last 5 to 10k miles much harder shifts, they used to be tolerable but now they have become an annoyance. When driving in traffic a 10mph and shifting into 2nd gear with little throttle, the allison alsmot slams into 2nd and sometimes it does this going into 3rd and 4th. I have yet to see any torque converter slippage on the monitor when locked, but am curious to see what i can do or what upgrades i shall do to bring my allison up to specs again and able to handle the extra power. I have also noticed when coming to a stop (getting off the highway) the truck doesnt seem to shift down into 1st soon enough and kinda shakes while hanging onto 2nd gear at about 15-5 mph. You can feel the transmission pushing the truck forward through the brake pedal. Any answers? Secondly, i think i can hear my injectors on the highway (75 mph @ 2200rpm) louder than i use to. I remeber hearing a smoother hum but now it seems to be more of an injector hiss and individual knocks when it fires, is there anythig i can do about this or is it maybe time for new injectors?

I don't know if you have access to a Tech II but you might want to have the taps reset and see what they does. Otherwise there might be some other issues going on in there. How long has this been happening?

These are tell tale signs of an Ally driven hard. The TAP cells are at the limit of the high pressure parameter because it has been reading slip for a while. Reseting the TAPs will work if you keep your foot out of it from now on. If not, your Ally will need help. You have damage.

Just curious, but will reflashing the TCM also reset the TAP cells?

No
The TAPS will have to be reset to fast learn once the reflash is done.

Mike is correct. With enough clutch frying, clearances are probably 'looser' and the apply plates are having to fill, and move faster and farther to apply.

OK, well what is the easiest way of going about reseting those, or otherwise beefing up the tranny with new packs and a TC. I was interested in ATS but was wondering what would be the best package for my truck. I am willing to spend money to fix the problem because i am soon putting on a 8 inch fabtech lift with 37.5's. I will however regear during the lift process.

I've just done my first trans service (50000km) 30K mi and I am starting to experience this same problem. I am in western Canada, who can I get to do trans mods?

Installed edge last sat I have driven 700 miles or so since . Shifts seem sloppy. Slip monitor displays slippage up to 50% or so on reg excel until lock up. Power level 3, and all levels except stock does this. truck has 22000 on OD and babied. What is wrong if any thing and is there a shift kit that can be installed to firm up shifts?

You know my 01 sometimes won't go into 1st gear when I stop kinda fast. I kinda hangs inbetween 1st and 2nd. Sorta in nuetral. After reading this I wonder if that is just a normal ally thing...

You need a reflash for the TCM. This was a problem with the 01 trucks. My truck had this problem till it was reflashed.
