: Body Lift??
ZmanDan 11-03-2005, 08:22 PM why can't I body lift my diesel truck? I had a 3" lift on my old truck ('03 gasser) and it was a perfect look for me, not too much and didn't have to worry about ridability....I was going to do the same with my new truck only to find out the body kits don't fit....I'm not ready to mess around with suspension lifts since the truck is too new....is there anyway to lift the body on these trucks??
briano 11-03-2005, 08:34 PM moving to Suspension section
azfabshop 11-03-2005, 09:52 PM Performance makes a 2" and 3" for 05 and down Duramax Call them and see if they will work on an 06. Usually they will they just haven't tried it yet
Kurt W. 11-03-2005, 10:13 PM Actually on that new of a truck I'd start out with a suspension lift kit. Body lift are not as noticable when added to a suspension lift. A factory ride with body lift looks kinda goofy. Just my honest opinion, but its all personal pereference.

why would a body lift look goofy ?any type of lift without bigger tires would look goofy with the gap gaurds you can barely tell when a truck has a body lift mainly i guess it would be a preference and how much money you want to spend and what you want to do with the truck
as far as an 05 kit working on a 06 is there maybe a little differences in the front CAC and radiator ducting also the fan shroud is different so the drop pieces for it wont fit other than that everything else is the same
Kurt W. 11-03-2005, 11:27 PM Mainly cause you see so much of the frame. And the HD's especially, the frame hangs low to begin with. Thats why I prefer the body with the susp. lift. By then the tires you put on are so big thats about all you look at.
uReside 11-04-2005, 02:11 AM i've thought about putting a 2 or 3" body lift on my truck... if you get a part # and a price, post it up, i might be interested aswell.
ZmanDan 11-04-2005, 08:52 PM There is alot of frame sticking out from under the truck already, I do have to agree with that statement. There's probably as much frame showing on my unlifted HD as I had showing on my 3" lifted Z71.....I'm just not ready to start messing with the suspension, ride issues, warrenty issues, etc....I figured maybe a 2" body lift wouldn't be too bad....The only complaint I have with our trucks is they sit too low from the factory. My 2500 4X4 sits lower than a 1500 Ford 4x4 and when I pull up beside a 2500 Ford, forget it, it towers over me and frankly pisses me off....I need a little lift to even the playing field...:)
If any of you have body lift ONLY on your HD's please post them so I can see...thanks!
markssylver 11-05-2005, 01:11 AM all i have is a body lift and tires
markssylver 11-05-2005, 01:15 AM i also just thought that since i got the westin nerf bars i dont notice the frame hanging down that much they kind of distract your eye from noticeing it any more than before i guess because they are shiny

definitely looks good and the nerf bars do make a good distraction. I'm not wanting to put steps of any kind on the truck but I still think it would look good without...you have the blackouts? Where did you get the body kit from?
markssylver 11-05-2005, 06:03 PM i got the body lift from performance accesories they sell the gap gaurds too
8.1GASSER 11-06-2005, 10:39 AM Here's a 3" body lift, Cognito HD leveling kit up front and 2.5" blocks in the back...

uReside 11-06-2005, 01:20 PM that looks pretty good to me :D
ZmanDan 11-07-2005, 10:42 PM yeah that looks real good. I guess they went with the smaller lift in the back to level the truck stance?
_nar_ 11-08-2005, 12:09 AM It's 8.1 gasser's truck, same guy that posted it.
I think you misunderstand, he has a 3 inch body lift on the entire truck. The front suspension is cranked around 3 inchs with the cognito leveling kit on it, so the back suspension 2.5 inch block raises the back to keep it level.
Burnin Mad Max 11-08-2005, 02:51 AM Sometimes I wish I didn't do the suspension lift: Like when I can't reach an ATM machine, or I can't fit in the garage and when I'm scraping tree branches in somebodies untrimmed driveway (lil' truck driving bastard  ) :(
I had a 3" performance accessories body lift on my 98 k2500 too. It made enough room for 33's and I didn't feel like I was sitting on the ground anymore. I liked it although with out the gap covers it did look fugly from the side. Cover them up if that's the route you take. Hell of a lot cheaper too.

i'm thinking about doing a BL on my HD... but i like being able to still hit the button at sonic :) and i'm only 5'5"!
Burnin Mad Max 11-09-2005, 02:44 PM I have to either hang completely out the window bent at the waste to reach the money out of and ATm or I pull up to it and to the right enough to get completely out of the truck. It can be a real nusance. Only one ATm I've found in the area has the card entry and money return at a reachable level. Usually its either or. :badidea:
turbo thom 11-10-2005, 10:37 AM You folks can remedy that with an air lift kit. Around a 6-8" kit will lower you down when necessery to about a 3" lift. Enough for a ATM job. Get you money, air air it back up, and away you go. Ain't cheap, but problem solved

Burnin Mad Max 11-10-2005, 03:13 PM I think I've already spent more than enough with CST to ever even consider investing more. No kits like the Kelderman Air-ride are pretty sweet and pretty pricey. Its a daily driver not a show truck. I've just come to realization that my next rig will probably get some really nice wheels and tires and call it a night. I'll focus more on perfromance than seeing over minivans.
LLY597 11-10-2005, 09:12 PM Would it still be possible or safe to run a 5th wheel hitch with a body lift?
