On my 2001 truck I had the firestone ride rite airbag system in the rear with the Rancho 9000 series shocks. When driving the truck empty I would have the shocks adjusted to level 2 and the airbags at 5psi. When hauling the camper and trailer I would air them up to 65lbs and the shocks in level 6. Now I have my 2006 truck on order and I want to have everything ready for when it arrives. I plan on installing the firstone ride rite system again and I want to know if the Rancho's are the only ones out there that are adjustable? Does anyone else have a similar setup they have found to be a good combination? If there are no other options, are there any venders here that sell the Rancho 9000's for the 2006 truck at stock height? I checked a few local auto parts stores and there is nothing listed for the 2006's, they said the truck is too new to have any items.
Thanks,
Jeff

I am running the Pro Comp MX6's on my 03 and they are way better than the shocks that came with my lift kit. They are 6 position adjustable and nitrogen charged so they really seem to help with the dreaded chevy bounce when towing. I plan to add air bads in the spring but for now the shocks are perfect with the truck empty. I had rancho 9000's on my ford and I like the pro comps better.

Do you, or anyone, have a part # for these? I would need them for stock height on an 06. Any suggestions on where to buy them? In this part of California there are no truck specialty shops around. My nearest one would be in Sacramento. Any vendors here carry them?
Thanks for the info,
Jeff

Well I bought mine from a local shop here in UT but you can buy them from 4wheel parts on the net. My buddie just got a set for a 04 stock height so I don't see why they would be any different for a 06. You do have to buy the pin elimination kit for the front so you can run a shock that has a bolt style mount on top instead of the pin but that is easy. I think that they are about 350 a set out the door. My local shop does ship out of state and has really good prices and really knowledgable staff if you couldn't find them anywhere else. I will warn you they are a pain to mount as they are nitrogen charged. You will have to jack the front of the truck up to drop the suspension so you can compress the shock and get it mounted. I did mine myself but there was a lot of cursing going on......
I looked on 4wheelparts.com and the part # for a set of 4 is EXPKMX018, it says 01-02 but the suspension is the same for all the years after 01. you will still need the pin elimination kit and that is like 25 bucks or so. Good luck.

Is a set of 4 all it comes in? I only need the rears. I think the front shocks will last a few years. With me hauling a 10' slide-in camper and then a 20' enclosed trailer behind that, I like my truck to be sitting level, which the air-ride does and the shocks to work at all loads. With just the camper I have the Rancho's at level 4, but if I haul the trailer as well, then I put them at level 6.
Thanks,
Jeff

No, you can buy them seperate. Infact I just found out that they make a pinned shock for the front for the stock height. That would eliminate having to use that kit I was talking about. If you want send me a PM and I can get you intouch with my buddie and he can hook you up with a set of rears or all 4, what ever you want. The shop he works at will drop ship any where.
