The first 4 images are from my buddy's 2002 CA Dmax. They have 17,800 miles on them and were installed together with the CAT in PRE-OEM location. He doesn't run any additive regularly. Note the CAT filter being first has most of the rust, but not quite all.

Here is his previous OEM filter after 15k before installing the CAT filter. Note the extra rust. Mine looked similar prior to regular additive usage.

Here is my CAT Pre-OEM after 13k running Primrose 405. Slight filtermag debris can be seen although it was only on for the last several thousand miles.

OEM looks impressive with the CAT setup. Hope he is now an additive believer.

What size filtermag fits the Nicktane Cat filter? Same size as the one that fits the OEM? Looks like I may want to buy another one, if I ever get time to install the Cat.

Wow at this rate with our pre OEM CAT filtering, I don't think the OEM will ever need to be changed!! Unfortunately we'll have to change the OEM to keep the general happy, but it is a shame as the OEM doesn't even look close to needing to be changed...

Cat looks to be doing it's job, OEM looks pretty clean for not running any additive.

i believe the filtermag i run on the CAT filter is a RA365.. i don't run one on the OEM.

He was running a HOT OJ on his truck and it ran fine w/ almost 18k on his cat filter. I wanted to get a fuel sample, but he changed the filters prior to bringing them over.. next time

Nick, is that the original CAT off your truck? So you ran it for 13K, looks like it could have gone 20K easily.....George once again seems to be right on about the Primrose. That is one clean can!!

Did you have the small CAT or the BIG CAT, I can't remember? I have the BIG CAT you put on for me.

Did you leave the OEM on?

How many miles on the OEM now?

That's very impressive, very, very impressive! I am really liking it more and more.

Just went out of warranty on mine over the weekend 36K, now working on whats left of the 100K. I was babying it to see if I could get the 36K and the 3 years to meet up together. Missed it by 3 months 36K in 33 months. Most of those miles in the summer. Just wanted the extra protection of the original wararnty in case there was an issue. Now I am gonna drive the wheels off of it! LOL

Your pictures made up my mind, gonna order some Primrose and just enjoy my truck now (off into the sunset). I believe the CAT and the Primrose will take care of any issues as far as premature wear is concerned. If something breaks, then it breaks, just didn't want any early wear out issues.

Thanks for posting the pics. Hell, maybe I will drive it to LA after all for Dyno days.

It would be nice to see you at the dyno day for sure. that was my original cat (the last picture in my post). I changed my OEM after about 15k and it looked like the one pictured up top, minus the rust. All CAT filters were 0749's.

Nick,

Um, regarding that bottom picture. Are you sure you didn't accidently cut open a new filter?

Boy! am I glad I have the Nicktane on mine! All the stories about rotten injectors takes its toll on my normally optimistic nature. I feel better now. Oh, and the Primrose seems to be working fine, too.
