Yesterday while traveling back from Good ole Va, we stopped for a soda and when we started again as soon as I started it up the Service Eng Soon light came on. It drove back to Missouri just fine, had the code read this morning at Autozone at it had a code of 4040, something to do with the EGR System. Any words of wisdom out there? Thanks in advance.

that code means the actual and desired egr pintle position was not the same for 13 seconds or more. sometimes a chunk of carbon can hang the valve open. if it idles smooth the valve is not stuck open. I would get it cleared and see if it happens again.

Yes that it what I meant was p0404, sorry about that. It idled pretty smooth to me of course most of the time I was traveling at 70-80 mph. The only time we stopped was for gas and it did just fine, I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Autozone said they couldn't clear it because of liability reasons or something. Is there any way I can clear it myself? Or does it need to be done with a computer?

You can rent the scanner that they plugged in for free (with a $200 deposit) and clear it yourself.

I didn't even think about that. I'll have to do that.
