have a 2001 Silverado CC Durmax with approximately 50k miles. It has ran good until last 6 months. It has had injectors replaced a couple of years ago but only a couple of them and not whole engine.

Lately it starts up and runs fine but upon shutdown and doing errands I'll try to start it and it cranks but soesnt start and invariably kills batteries. Hook a Jumper cable and it starts up. any ideas? Dealer says it's fine???????

replace the batteries and the fuel filter.

These two are cheap, and if they don't fix it then come back with more details.

I would suggest what the others above have and also do a search on "hard starts". I think you will find some good info. There are several posts on this topic.. Good luck

I already had the Fuel Filter replacement recall done just prior to the last "episode". The Batts seem to push the starter fine and it cranks hard but no startup. I'll have the shop check the batts like y'all said. I have a Juice/*** and MBRP I want to install but want these probs fixed before I go up to hunting camp, I dont want to get stuck out in the boonies...

I think that the dealer saying that it is normal is wrong. I would bring it back and raise a little hell.

Yes, I have several times, but being in uniformed and armed scares them....... I am considering driving north 40 minutes to a dealer that just does Duramx's and trucks and see if they will figure it out and fix it and bypass te local stealer alltogether....

on a friend's ford when an oil pressure switch is going bad it will shut down as a safety feature. Does the Duramax have any type of switch gear like this that could be causing starting problem?

What about the fuel pump? Have they checked the fuel rate?

Well after leaving several voice messages with a large truck only Chevy dealership and not getting any return calls, I called a dealer a couple of towns away I heard was pretty decent. They told me to bring my truck in as soon as I could get there. Damn what a differance in serivce between the stealer -:t I had been going to (As a convience they are in the same twon I work in) and the new one I tried. Where before No matter how long the truck was there, they A. Didnt fix it properly and B. they never called or updated me as to my sitrep.

The very next morning I had a call at 0747am as well as an e-mail from the Dealer service rep informing me they were replacing ALL EIGHT injectors and as I told them I planned on keeping this truck for a few more years as I wanted to buy a house and could not afford both. He had the techs go over the whole truck and found some leaking seals and a few other things the other guys missed. My whole truck was fixed, felt tight and runs like the devil now. Onloy thing not taken care of was the pesky GM cd/am-fm radio that swtiched back and forth between cd and radio function and doesnt play cds and the drivers speaker inop. Not bad for the first time out. And they even washed my truck for me...

Glad to hear that there are some good techs and some good dealers still.

I'm having the exact same problem that you were having with your truck. I was wondering if you have had any problems since the dealer replaced the injectors. My truck has been in and out of the shop for the last 3 months for this same hard starting problem, but the dealer keeps saying it's not injector related. They have replaced the fuel filter housing and pump, the fuel regulator, the fuel modulator, and the injector pump. Currently it's back in the shop(after only having it out for 3 days for the injector pump replacement) and they still can't diagnose the problem. For some reason they claim it's not injectors.
