97 chev. 6.5 td losing about 1/2 gal a day. no wet spots anywhere oil level on full mark no excessive white smoke


any ideas would sure be helpful

If you don't see it on the ground, and it's not filling the crank case, it's going out the pipe and you just can't see it yet, it'll get worse,,,

If that's the case, then you might wanta check your head gasket~!


You could be getting ready to blow it~


been there, and done it~


You'd think that we'd have a class action suit against GMC for at least a new DURAMAX REPLACEMENT~!~!

Check for excessive psi in the surge tank. If there is a combustion leak to coolant it will over pressurize.





I'd also suggest pulling the CDR (gold can on valve cover) and inspect for signs of gelatin.





Before pulling heads, pump up with a radiator pressure tester and look for external leaks.





These blocks (especially with piston spray as evidenced by 5/8" alum cooler lines) can crack up the cylinder wall allowing coolant to rain in the crankcase...
