:( Have noticed for some time that fluid of some kind is all over the bottom of the truck bed directly above the front u joints it has even taken away the black waxy unercoating. It is getting worse throwing splatter back onto the rear dif. What is it and whats the fix? Thanks. 01 ALY/MAX.

Sounds a lot like the rear (if 4X4) Yoke seal on the transfer case or the transmission rear seal and bushing. Trans fluid is washing the undercoating away. Ether way the dealer or a transmission shop can fix you up in short order. Both should have the tooling to do the job.

Check your oil level. What truck do you have?

My 2500 dmax/alli did the same thing. Just started as a little drip, then turned into oil all over the bottom of the truck. I had to have the tailshaft seal replaced. They also polished the driveshaft yolk, just in case it was scratched by dirt of anything getting in there. Good luck MGM2

Front, right hand (passengerside) corner of the engine there is a crankcase breather tube. Crawl under the truck and look up, you'll see it. If that is where the fluid is coming from then most likely you crankcase is full of fuel. Your Injectors are leaking.
Diesel fuel will eat the undercoating off, it did mine....but I made the dealer spray it back on after the injector replacement...

As long as we're considering possibilities ~ here's another. I had fluid come out of the vent on top of the tranny. IIRC it came down onto the NSBU switch assy too. There was no indication of overheat (SW, January pulling a 4000lb TT). Just recently read on one of the forums about a new, 'vented' dipstick for the allison.
In that any fluid will remove the undercoating, one would think the general would come up w/something different. I'm not so sure what we have isn't the emperors invisible clothes

Look for a hole in your transfer case. I had the same problem and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. One day I took it in to the dealer to have both diffs and the transfer case fluid changed. They told me my transfer case was dry and had a hole in it. $2200 later.......
The stealer tells me its a bad yoke, causing trans. fluid to escape through u-joints. fortunatly have ext. gm power train warranty.:ro)
