With the work that I've done on the truck this weekend I got quite a bit of diesel on the bottom of the motor, steering stuff, and front end in general. Should this be cleaned off and what is the best way? I'm worried that it is going to remove all the grease on the front end and start ruining stuff.

GM Engine shampoo. Let sit and rinse off with a pressure washer. That is what I do.

can you clean off the area under the intake manifold as well? How about the Alternator.

Alternator I would stay away from as much as possible.

I get a can or two of degreaser and hose everything down and let it set for a couple minutes.

I reccommend removing the skid plate so you can spray liberally on the front of the motor too and blast off what ever might be on top of the skid plate with the power washer.

Are you careful to not get the fuse box and stuff on the drivers side? Wires with high pressure? After washing do you relube everything?

I know...silly questions but i haven't ever hosed down the inside of the engine compartment on my truck before. I pressure washed tractors many times... this just seems different.

Once while in a dollar store I picked up a couple bottles of something called "Awesome Cleaner". It comes in a spray bottle. I had a mess much like you are talking about and tried the stuff. Worked like a charm, very well. All you need for pressure is a garden hose. The best part, it only costs $1.00 a bottle. One other tip for those of you that have RV's. I used this stuff on those very stubborn black streaks. It just melts them away with no scrubbing. I have bought many differnt products for these streaks and have never seen anything like it. Buy the way, I'm not a salesman for the stuff, just very impressed with the way it works.
