Well since the only Duramax I have ever drove is the one I own now. I was wondering what the power should feel like. So Ill know if everything is working right. Gears 1-3 espcially 2-3 are strong when shifts to 3-4 and4-5 it falls on it face. Can barely hear my turbo also. Just wondering is this about right as far as power is concearned. Also not a fast as I thought it would be.

Do you have any type of engine mods? Wxhuast , intake, tuner and such?? My truck feels pretty strong in all gears and you can here lots of turbo whine, but I also have an AFE intake and filter, its been on the truck since I got it so I cant compare to stock.

No engine mods that i know of. I thought It would be stronger than what it is. Dont get me wrong I love the truck though. Anybody else?

Couple of things:

- you won't hear much turbo whistle unless you install an intake kit like an AFE or K&N. That'll let it sing. Also it'll increase somewhat more with a free flow exhaust.

- Those hugeass tires aren't the best for making next snapping acceleration. The tranny will have to re-learn. Go out and drive like a complete ass with it, and it should wake up after a good dozen floorboarded takeoffs through 4 gears.

Check your fuel and air filters and make sure they're clean. If you dont know when the fuel filter was changed, if ever, then change it right now.

Don't treat these trucks like cupcakes. The harder you are with them, the better they respond.

From a speed standpoint, for a reference, I have a buddy with a '99 Chevy with the 454 and normal mods - tune, intake, exhaust. From a 20 mph roll on, we're neck and neck up to the speed limiter (with me on stock tuning).

From a dead stop, I pull him hard out of the hole and leave him.

I'm sure you know someone who has one.....go have some fun...

With the Edge Juice, there is no comparison.....seeya...

When i bought it the truck had 265's on it when I put my 315's on i didnt seem to loose any paper. I just changed air filter and got the fuel filter recall. Oh ya I didint know the tranny had relearn.

Well, it doesn't re-learn because you installed new tires. It's just that you're going to be turning less rpm for the normal speeds at which you're driving. If you drive it easy, it upshifts too quickly and seems to bog too much.

If you want it haul ass, then get your foot in it hard.

I had my pcm updated 2000 miles ago and the truck drove a little different. I have larger than stock tires on mine as well.

Will a dozen hard runs teach the tranny?

Is it always in learn mode or do I have to do something to it first before the dozen hard runs updates the tranny programing.

I'm glad to hear this but I just want to be sure I am doing it right.
