I do a lot of work in Harrisburg as an IT vendor. So one day while I was up there I ate lunch in the Capital Cafeteria. Bunch of state workers and me. In walks Fast Eddie. He's smiling and waving to people. No one was smiling or waving back. You would have thought Hannibal Lector himself was walking through the place looking for a dining companion. The crap I have heard about going on up there. Just suffice it to say that he runs state government just like he ran Philly.

That's right no state worker will forget him freezing our wages for two years under the new contract that was inked when he took office.

Bingo. This was right after all that went down. Don't get me started on all the single source contracting BS he pushed through either. We do the same work for the same people who now get charged more money since we have to be sub'd out through a primary contractor. This guy needs to go.

the link leads to an article on cleaner air. whats wrong with that? I know i like to breath. I live in so cal and i was here when the air was so bad,let me tell you now we have very few smog days. I know we pay the price with all the emission stds and higher fuel cost, but i do like the air so i cannot see it!!!

Thank you for bringing this up, in PA diesel's are exempt (for now) and my other cars are required to have yearly emissions inspections but my neighbors down the road (8 miles) in Greene Co. are NOT!!! HOW IS THIS FAIR???

I can NOT see the air I breath and we do NOT have the problems the folks in CA have so, how is it that we NEED tougher emission standards!?!?!? I guarantee you it’s because it's in our Governors best interest and not our own!

State Rep. Rick Geist, R-Altoona, chairman of the House Transportation Committee, recently proposed a bill that would do away with emission inspections all together which was met with this knee-jerk reaction that doesn't really help any of us in PA but makes the Gov. Look good....

Once again, how is that fair?!?

The fact is the yearly emissions are a joke. You fail it, spend $450 (I think this is the amount) to try and correct the issue, and if it fails again you can then buy an exemption sticker. There is nothing about these regulations that forces you to have clean emmisions. You can buy your way out of it. It's revenue generation plain and simple

You are exactly right! As with most of the regulations they are revenue generators. A perfect example is the video poker bill, the reason it hasn't passed yet is that the representative's haven't figured out how much THEY as individuals are allowed to own. Kind of like the weasel watching the chicken coop... (guess who the weasel is???)

Another problem is that when we do get rid of slick eddy the leftist tree-huggers will have their way and we'll get another liberal that will tell us what we need, how much of it we need, and that they need to be the ones to get it from. And oh yea, by the way WE get to pay for something that WE didn't want or need in the first place!!!!
