Yes. My neighbor had the same thing and wanted tow mirrors and just switched them out. They work fine.

not that easy !!!! your truck has to be reflashed for the tow mirrors to work. i just did what you what to do. they did not work, they will power out but not in, it will try to fold instead of come back in!

But it can be done eh?


Did the reflash need to be done only on the truck receiving the tow mirrors or both trucks?

Wow, sorry to lead you down the wrong path. Just talked to the neighbor again and he hasn't had any problems since changing out. Still insists the change was done without reflash. Ignore the earlier post if it's not right.

Yes I just Did It To My Truck I Had The Power Fold Mirrors And Got Tow Mirrors From (tophog) They Work Fine With The Reflash As Far As The Other Truck I Would Asum That Truck Would Think It Still Had Towing Mirrors And Try to Retract Not Fold, So Yes Both Trucks Need To Be Reflashed. I Had A Friend At GMC Dealer Do It Free My Chevy Dealer Whated $100.00 .The Computer Needs To Know What Mirrors You Have To Work

I gotta admit, the mirrors on my PSD were the greatest even though they were manual extension.

It's true, when swapping from full-featured mirrors to tow/camper or vice versa the computer has to flashed with the correct mirror code. See link in sig for more info.

The reason is the 90/10 rule. 90% of the time I am using it as a work truck turning, backing and getting around tight spots. The tow mirrors are hard to use. I figure I can place an extension the few times I tow our 5th wheel. I had the auto fold on my 1500 and like the back down feature when I was in a tight driveway.

I just installed the full feature mirrors on my father's '03 HD. He originally got the truck with tow mirrors but didn't like them. After I installed it, everything is working fine. The computer didn't even need to be reflashed (at least for this truck). Go figure. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
